Me and my friends have only just started collecting BFG and we are planning on playing a campaign where we both control allied imperial forces, and fight against chaos fleets.

This is the first of the imperial swords that i have done:

Given that the chaos need to be painted as well as the imperials i had to batch them so this is what they turned out like:

Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks!  :)

Nice work - and extremely neat brushwork too - that Chaos ship has incredibly crisp details :) :) :)

Thanks everyone !  :)

With the chaos ships, its just painting the entire model catachan green, raised bits / detail desert yellow, metal bits boltgun metal, barrel ends chaos black and the bridge sunburst yellow. Then brown ink the entire model.
Done!  :D

At the moment, i have:

Slaughter ( + 3 unassembled Cruisers )
3 Idolators ( + 2 unpainted )
3 Iconoclast ( + 3 unpainted )

What should i paint / get next? Me and my friend are starting our campaign starting from Imperial escort squadrons, then moving to the heavier ships after a certain amount of reknown so we need an enemy ship that will give us a challenge but not annihilate us. We fought a slaughter with 5 swords and 3 firestorms and it killed all but 1 of each before they disengaged.
I am thinking maybe a carnage?

Thanks   :D

I'd like to add the names of the ships and their classes to the bases.
Has anyone else done this?
How could i go about doing it?

Carnage or Hades can be quite what you are after. They have a significant broadside at 45 cm, but not as powerful as that of the slaughter at 30 cm. Still, chaos ships *are* powerful in small games. ;)

I like your scheme! I will have to test it.

Sadly I don't think i have the brush control to paint it on as neatly as i would like.  :(

The colour scheme for the chaos ships was one that i originally used for some death guard. I was going for the "Just walked through a pond" look.

Xani, one thing i have found with the scheme is that sometimes the metal isn't that noticable unless you look at it directly which can make it look like a big space-poo or something. Maybe more highlighting, a watered down ink or repainting afterwards to keep them bright?

See what you think of them:

Thanks, Tristan!

I have a week off work now so am going to try and finish off the ones that i have left.

Done:
Slaughter Class
Carnage Class
3 Idolators
3 Iconoclasts

Sprayed, stuck and cleaned up:
Devastation Class
Acheron Class
2 Idolators
3 Iconoclasts

I think the carnage looks better than the slaughter. More definition. Will have pics by end of week hopefully.

I use white stickers which I cut into the right form and then I write the ships name on it, with a normal pen.
