She is beautiful John!
I particularly like the distinctive hull colour which contrasts nicely with the white superstructure. Not to mention the 3 Flags proudly proclaiming her allegiance!
And as an ex artillery Officer I also heartily approve of her name -St Barbara is the patron saint of Gunnery!
Thanks so much for the Aeronef fix, she is a beauty and well worth the wait!

Very nice, "V" ! And I remember, St. Barbera being the FA's patron saint. St. Micheal, the Archangel is the Paratroops !

Quote (Warmaster Nice @ 17 Oct. 2005 (23:27)) | I'm happy as well: Those looks like danish flags! Excellent work V I like it a lot! ...And it is an extra bonus that I get these strange associations to a danish birthday cake when I see it mmmmhhh. cake...
Cheers! | Hey Warmaster, maybe this should go in the food-fight thread as well, then... As for the flags - that's the one used by the Knight Hospitallers of St. John here in Malta, and is also the flag used by their fleet. Now a few days ago I sent a copy of the print I made for these flags to Brigade models, who fabricate these models and also produce sheets of flags. I know there's very few mad people who want to make an Aeronef fleet of Knights, so as a selling point I argued that a Danish fleet colector would also find these useful. Thanks guys, glad you like her. Tas, the Knights' Aeronefs will, like their old galleys and galleons, have the names of saints - and this one WAS chosen intentionally! I just hope she doesn't blow up like like a 'Santa Barbara' - a name once used by Italians to denote an ammunition magazine. L-4, the possibility of paratroops in Aeronef intrigues me. And, therefore, the next ship will be named S.Michele.

Legend has it that the dansih flag fell from the skies to the hand of some king during a crusade in Latvia in the 1000-somethings. It doesn't sound too unlikely that some Knight Hospitaller could have lost it
Sorry I guess my food fixation is getting out of hand
Interesting bit about the St. Barbera. I didn't know that but it is a very fitting name indeed!
Cheers!

Food fixation has two cures - (1) eating (2) migraine (ugh) (yep, I've got another bout... aaargh)

I think we need a "Jaynes Book of Fighting Aeronaughts" established! I use both the real one and D'aynes all the time. Hmm....
I know there's very few mad people who want to make an Aeronef fleet of Knights |
We few, we Happy few, we Band of Brothers! I'll put my Teutonics against your Hospitallers in due course!
Tas, the Knights' Aeronefs will, like their old galleys and galleons, have the names of saints - and this one WAS chosen intentionally! |
How about these potential Ship names:
St Catherine - patron Saint of Tongue Trouble
St Patrick - patron Saint of Toothache
St Gerard - patron Saint of Pregnant Women
St Anne - patron Saint of Housewives
and a special one for you V:
St Hubert, patron Saint of Machinists
http://www.luckymojo.com/patronsaints.htmlthe possibility of paratroops in Aeronef intrigues me
Me too!
How about aerotroops (Arial Hussars?) - deployed by bungy cord and absailing gear from a low flying Nefs and Digs!
I might need help...:;):
