Yep, I have an Epic scale Stargate, that came with a 6in Action fig. Plus a number of 6-15mm Egyptian pieces from various sources, including pyramids, Sphinx, obelisk, temple/ruins, etc.! My Abydos Epic terrain set !

Hey All,
For those aspiring castle builders out there (Maksim, this includes you )
I am casting alot, ALOT (did I mention, a whole pile) of bricks, and I have a few hundred pounds of Green Dental Plaster.
If any of you want some, then, make a list of what you want, and, what you are willing to trade for it.
The more work I have to do, the more I will want. I am a soft touch on trades (ask Maksim) but I figure, once I am finished with my current project, the molds are going into looooonnnnggg term storage.
So, come one, come all to the great brick-a-brack trade fest.
Best regards
Dalton

Hi All,
The weekend is done, I was able to average 2 castings an hour, for 9 hours on Saturday, and 4 hours on Sunday. A casting included every mold I own except for the graveyard and station builder.
Works out to 936 molds cast over the weekend.
I was able to take pictures, but, never made it out of the house to get any film developed so the posting of pictures will have to wait until next week.
I figure two or three more weekends like this and I will be finished and just assembling/painting the finished stuff.
As no one has responded to the earlier offer of finished bricks/buildings, better make some noise soon as this offer will dissappear in a few weeks.
Please, do not spread to other boards that I am making this offer. I am not in this to build a business (my work keeps me busy enough), I am just offering to help out those who do not wish to make the big cash commitment that I have.
Best regards
Dalton

Quote (vanvlak @ 04 2005 April,10:19) | Whew - dalton, what you're doing qualifies as Epic too! Impressive! | Hi Vanvlek,
I am a bit of a compulsive nutcase. (my wife says that is an understatement).
I work long hours, I have two beautiful daughters and a wife who is beyond any ability of mine to describe how wonderful she is.
That means that my gaming always takes forth or fifth place on my priority list.
In order to get anything done, I budget my time, just as I budget my money. I talk to the girls and we plan on them going out to see friends and do church stuff, with the understanding that I set aside time for them on other weekends.
When I started this fools errand, I made sure I fully understood the amount of labour involved and what I could do to minimise it.
That is why I made the offer to other gamers about the casting of the molds. I am set up to cast 36 molds at a time, 72 molds an hour. If I actually pushed myself (instead of watching my DVD collection of "yes minister" and "yes, prime minister") I could easily knock off 118 or so molds an hour. I am able to do this because I spent the money to have enough molds available and enough drying trays, sorting bins etc to properly sort them. I was 5 months in getting the molds and in that time I was getting prepared.
The thing about the hirst arts molds, they are small and they have a small selection of bricks each. In order to do anything you need alot of molds and alot of time.
I figure, in order to complete my project, I need another 80 or so castings, which works out to be another couple of weekends.
best regards

On another note, I have just finished another roll of film, hopefully I will get one or two good pictures to post.
I am getting distracted, putting a blood bowl stadium together. It is based upon the chess set project from the hirst arts site. I am using the 1" squares and bordering it with 1.5" squares. It may use 30 pounds of plaster just for it alone - based upon current estimates.
Between the Mordheim and Bloodbowl stuff, I should put up a web site (If I wasn't soooo lazy).
best regards

Hey Guys,
I am facing an interesting problem, I just started to realize just how much I am painting - man for all my for-thought into this project, you would have first considered the painting issues.....
Ok, so, the cost of spray paint for primer is out, and I don't feel like brushing all these blocks, so, has anyone ever used an air gun to paint?
I want to be able to put down a heavy base coat and then multiple layers of lighter shaded paint to get a nice ruined building look with as little drybrushing as possible, any suggestions?
Thanks
Dalton

Hi All,
19 more molds cast, starting the construction of the master molds to ease future work.
I am superglueing 30 copies of each type of block onto a 6" wide by 2' long piece of glass. The glass is bordered by lego bricks. I will pour RTV rubber into the newly created frame to make a 'negative' to be used as a new master mold. This will protect my hirst arts molds as well as allowing me to cut down on casting. I will not need to do this for every type of brick, but, I will do it with all the main types to ensure that I have enough to build my city. I have some RTV that I am playing with, but I am still in the discovery stage and if anyone is interested, I will post the details on this thread.
best regards

Hi, sounds like an enormous amount of work there Dalton but i'm sure the payoff will be great, some pics as soon as you are able please Re air-brushing, I've not tried any myself but several friends use it regularly for such work, (and for larger scale vehicles), sounds like it's the way to go.

Hi Guys,
I need help. (actually, my family states that any help I get should come from an institution given the size of the project I have taken on....)
BUT, back to the project at hand.
I am having a hard time picturing all the different kinds of buildings and their shape. I need some pictorial guidence concerning building and street layout for my mordheim project.
A medievil town, with a society that has early gunpowder, magic and a huge population, is not going to have buildings that conform to alot of our own history.
Any ideas? Links? HEEELLLLPPPP.
This has been a message from your local maniac.
best regards
Dalton

Quote (Mojarn Piett @ 12 2005 April,02:58) | Are you looking for a map, pictures for buildings or what? | Hi,
I am hoping for street pictures for flavour. Alot of the mordheim pictures show horrific little glimpses but no "looking down the street" or "looking over the ruins" kind of pictures. I was hoping for some links to scans from the old WHFRP stuff or to drawings of places that are similar in genre.
I would love a good map of the city, but, I have never found one.
best regards

AFAIK no map of Mordheim has ever been published. However, the cities of the period were broadly similar even in our wurld (little general planning, narrow streets, stuff like that).
I have a copy of the old WHFRP plus a few adventures. I'll see if I can dig up anything suitable for your project.
