Ah, it wasn't the elevation I wanted the flight stands for, it was the nice round base piece that would suit both infantry, tank and flyer alike...

(Nice Vulture, btw.)

Thanks and ah fair enough. I bought a load of (stupidly priced) GW Battle of Five Armies Bases (25mm round but 1.5mm high), plus 30, 40, 50 and 60mm round plywood ones, which covers me for most things.

Looking at the 'rules as written'... and Warmaster bases are technically illegal. The rules state that a base cannot be more than 40mm in any direction, but a 40mm x 20mm will be more than 40mm from opposite corners! Pedants unite!

I see what you mean, but I read/interpret it as allowing up to 40mm by 40mm square. Standard rectangular Epic bases are 40mm long and would also have a illegal diagonal if that interpretation was correct.

Since they show an example with a Warmaster base, I think it would be safe to infer they mean it cannot be more than 40mm in horizontal dimensions.

10,000 bases! :o You must have an insanely large collection and gaming area! I thought I was bad for having bought maybe 200-300ish.

hehe. I wish. I do have some large collections myself, but not that big! I sold maybe 1000 to others who just needed bases, but I painted full-time for over 4 years & I base a lot of stuff on that size of base - 15mm historicals, 15mm fantasy, 6mm historical, 6mm fantasy, 6mm sci fi etc etc so that all helped get through them a gret deal. Bear in mind I only ever photographed about 1 in 10 models I painted & there's already over 2000 pics on my website, with maybe the same again awaiting upload! Still scary to think I've painted that much though! :o

As an update on this... I have decided to go with Warmaster bases. I am basing up bikes in groups of four. Warmaster bases are just about large enough for this (I am using EW Guide bikes). FoW small bases are really too small, and the medium and large FoW bases are illegal as they are both larger than 40mm. I have therefore ordered 100 Warmaster-style bases from Magister Militum.
