Hi, bit late on this MOK (not really my scale) but looks good to me ! Like the "fleshy" horrors - gives them a bit of grounding in "reality."

Thanks Blip! The horrors are my favourite so far too especially the eyes!

Slight progress on this army as I work on a turkey Demon:

Also have some terminators and 2 rhino's finished but need to wait until I visit them in their display cases to take a picture: I got really lucky and am now allowed to store my display cabinets at the local store so my entire collection is now on display (all that epic!) and in the same place as I game too!

Lucky eh!?

looking good MoK. I'm not 100% convinced by the green mascara, especially with dark eyes. I'm guessing you're trying to get the evil green glow thing, but it looks odd without evil green eyes to cast the glow. Some of the models seem a bit dark, but my biggest beef is with the tufts of grass/ reeds - it obscures the models and just doesn't look very natural, jarring even. Perhaps make it shorter/ more spread out? For the lord on the disk I also think a little more balance in the highlighting between his face (good) and top of the helmet (looks unfinished) would help even it out a bit.

Thanks for the feedback Matt (and Blindhorizon), agree with you on the helmet of the sorcerer but that's also my poor photography skills! I'm still learing how to do glowy eyes as well so that's something I need to work on though.
I'm liking my tufts as it's a theme I've used for a while now (you might have seen them on some dark elves I did a while ago?)

All in all though this is an army I'm trying to paint reasonably speedily as it's sole purpose is to be Ebayed and make me some cash for the new year: as such as long as it's passably good painting I'm not losing sleep!

I registered just to say rock on with the Thousand Sons! I've been playing since early 3rd with this army and they are hard to win with but they are very cool to see on the table.

I really like how you blended the metalics, I might have to do the same, I just did the ordinary yellow/blue =)

Thanks Mortetvie: that's great encouragement :-)

I wasn't keen on the old skool addition of yellow for these guys so I thought why not just go all bronze: the idea of centuries old suits of walking armour didn't fit bright yellow in my opinion!

Note, however, that the helmet crests are an attempt at a shinier 'gold' as opposed to bronze (brass actually i think...due to filligree...) and also an atempt at a blue 'gem' layer in between that.

I'm putting my new work bench in my new house together this week and so will finally have somehwhere permanent to work again: as such when I return from my trip to Amsterdam this weekend you can expect this army to be the first lot that I finish up :-)

Then they're going on ebay! So save some pennies!

Last Batch and then the army is done!
Image

I converted some chosen from old OOP Legion of the Damned Marines and also have a lord to paint up
Image

These all need to be done by Thursday evening when I want to get Army pics up and start the auction. Luckily I'm able to work on them 9-5 at the moment as I'm out of 'real' work but it might still be a push: I've really held myself back with my classic technique of 3 layer highlighting as it's such a slow way to work: should of been more open miinded to begin with :-(!

Anyway, cheer me on gents and I'll get a full army shot for you in a few days :-)

Hi MoK

When you put them up on ebay, can i suggest starting them on Sunday to finish Sunday evening? One of my friends effectively has a second job selling stuff on ebay (he has a rating of over 6.000) He found he got the best results selling stuff to end them because of the time differences with UK and USA and so you can catch both in final few hours of auction. That will help drive up rprice as much as possible and you deserve to get maximum possible for these lovely figures.

Good luck

James
