I think the inner child in me is constantly trying to recreate the Battle of Endor from "Return of the Jedi."
Here is my idea: What if the gaming table was covered in forest? ?
But not just any forest, a mega tree forest! ?
The trunks of these trees would be the size of the 40K ordance template or maybe even larger. ?
They wouldn't be whole trees, their tops being roughtly at our own physical height.
One may have some fun and have a highway through the trees or buildings built onto the trees. Like a Wookie city.
Now understand, I'm not going to build any of this right now. I just think it's a cool, IMHO, idea that I wanted to share with my gaming buddies. Maybe I'll inspire one or two of you and it will all be worthwhile.
I should just be working on having a painted army!
Take Care!

I like it!!! you could make the trunks out of alot of things around the house. And of course, all IG players have to use lots of troops and AT-ST..I mean Sentinels!

I was thinking you could use old paint cans, or empty tubs of butter. Or just carve it out of blocks of foam about a foot high. ?
Use some wall putty to give the outside texture, prime black, ?and some drybrush a your done. ?
It would make for some intersting gaming because in game terms their height is infinate. ?So skimmers couldn't "jump" over them. ?And I guess no flyers, but I imagine the ork fighta pilots would still try to fly through the trees. ? ?

Definitely sounds great ! I have some giant mushrooms from Grendel and GZG, that I'm going to add to my weird alien terrain inventory !

Re - mushrooms - flower arrangement and DIY-home deco shops are great (check out the flower arrangement wire - long, straight strands, stiff but bendable, and paintable too, ideal for loads of stuff) for innovative ideas - L4, try their foam mushrooms - dirt cheap, very large (Warlord Titan-sized at least!), and easy to carve into or paint or whatever.

I have quite a lot from the 2 companies. Ranging from the size of a Warhound to a tall dreadnought. It should be an interesting set of terrain when completed. I like weird alien stuff !

Hmmmm....IG would triumph untill they met Smurfette! Then they would be destroyed by her secret weapons! Unless they had the forsight to bring some SoB along.

"That image is both strange, funny, and somewhat disturbing in a sort of "I want to see it" sort of way. "
I really do need a good camera...

 | Now all you need is some small blue troops (Ultra Marines, maybe)...
Smurf Marines counter the Evil Eldar attack.
