What is the best way to prime in cold nasty weather?
The weather has been cold, overcast and raining off and on here. I usually prime outside on the apartment patio, but I've had bad results before priming during cold weather (paint inconsistent, particulate matter, etc.).
Some of you live in worse climates than I do.
How do you prime when it's ugly outside?
I have some models calling to me.

I keep my paint and figs inside where it's warm, take them outside and spray, wait just long enough for the overspray to drift away, then bring it all inside to dry. Obviously, that still won't work if you have lots of rain or dust blowing around.
I used to have an apartment with a large kitchen, so I could leave them in the corner by the back door and the fumes never got too bad.
Now I have a garage to set things in while they dry, but that probably doesn't help you.

Hi Maksim,
I had the same problem (and recorded in in the Eldar diary, so it must be true!) a few days ago, with cold and rain and wind. My solution is a small spraying booth indoors (a large wooden box, actually) , but it's only good for spraying one or two models. But someday I'll make a larger one with a small extractor fan and a duct leading outside for more extensive jobs - and that's what you could try. A large computer fan (see the Necromunda terrain thread elsewhere!) could suffice if you're ready to spray one model at a time.
I'm guessing using an airbrush with water-based acrylics could also reduce the problem of indoors undercoating (again, in a booth), but I never tried this. ?
The garage (or outhouse) solution is of course ideal.

To be frank, I just used to wait for better weather. Baring that way out a garage or large box indoors serves well enough.

Oh, I forgot, if you do prime them and the weather doesn't favor your priming job a hair blower set on warm may help you salvage the job.

I used to live in a small apartment when in residency and I found using boxes to do it and keep things cleans was very effective.

Yes, I spray in the garage and then take them inside to dry. ?Plus during clement weather I try to base coat enough stuff to carry me through ... sort of my version of "saving for a rainy day" ! ?

Be careful and put down lots of boxes and newspaper, or use a brush... in New Zealand it is usually easier to just wait for a fine day...

I always spray paint in the back garden. As for this time of year, I just wait for a day when it isn't wet. The cold hasn't caused too many problems for me yet.
On the subject of spray painting in the back garden, last summer, I almost sprayed all my grass blue, from ultramarine blue spray cans! I needed to clean them somehow, and turning them upside down and spraying them was the best way...but it turned my grass blue. Oh well

I spray in my garage, in a large box. I can't spray very many models at a time, about a dozen, but the fumes arent too bad, since I usually do my spraying last thing before I'm done for the day.

Hi!
Kr00za's point is well taken. I lived in a couple of windy places that mande priming outside a pain in on a good say. I have long since used boxes indoors or out. You local supermarket is a good place to get suitable empty boxes.
