I'm designing a set of models to use with a brand new 10mm scale wargame, probably just for me and my friends.

The setting is anachronistic, with design influences from pretty much all areas being smooshed together to form one incohesive and idiotic looking whole.

At least that's my aim.

In this thread I want to post pictures of prototypes I'm working on, concept drawings, and other sundries, and it'd be cool if people could tell me what they think of the designs, what works and what doesn't, etc.

Up first, the Land Ironclad (yeah unoriginal name I know).

It has a sleek post-modern hullform, an early dreadnought gun turret, seriously impractical drive wheels, and a steam engine as motive power.

It's probably too heavy/cumbersome to fire whilst on the move.

The Astronun there has been scaled to be 10mm tall, for comparison purposes... some proper retro-postmodern infantry will appear in time no doubt.

It's a little over 5cm long.

Looks cool. Isn't it going to be hideously expensive to print and cast 10mm stuff especially if you've got a really small group of people interested in them?

Hey! That would make a great starting point for a steam gargant! I'd just scratch build a body on top and reposition the guns.

Otherwise a 10mm steampunk game sounds fun :-)

I really like it, particularly the very boilerish boiler on the back, I like the idea of someone huddling down on a platform to keep it stoked!

I've started to develop some techniques to reduce cost.

It's certainly intresting...

have you perchance seen ramshackle games' Nuclear Renaissance?

very similar aesthetic - though your's looks a lot more manufactured.

I hadn't until now.

Their stuff seems a lot more rough around the edges in a mad maxish post-apocalypse style, as compared to this which is generally 'cleaner' in lines and not so 'industrial', if that means anything. :)
