Your thoughts and reviews of Canvas Eagles?  I'm looking at starting and trying to get a few others interested.

Simple and fun. Captures the essence of WWI air combat without tons of rules. One person can theoretically handle up to three planes without slowing the game considerably, but it's best when you have a group of 4+ players, with each flying one plane. We use the Wings of War planes, making start-up cost for the game a massive $10 (plus whatever ink/paper is needed to print rules/charts/plane diagrams).

I already have 8 WoW planes also and planned to use those too.  What did you guys do about bases?  I'd like telescoping bases but my hex map is 1" hexes and with the small planes that seems fine.  But I think this will be too small for telescoping bases.  My alternate plan is Litko flight bases with altitude markers.

We have a 1.5" hex mat, and just use the bases provided with the planes and altitude markers. The base orientation can get tricky when the planes are adjacent, but it works OK for our purposes. Telescoping flight rods would look nicer, but it's easier for these aged eyes to just read the number on the chit than to count the number of extension lengths.
