That is a good point Carrington.  As I said, all in all the Allied AFVs we're "better". And in a tactical level game, in some cases, those superiorities were noticed.  And yes, Nico, I'll try to find my stuff on France '40 TO&Es, etc. The French had organized "Char" type Divs. However, tended to use their AFVs in separate Bns, in support of larger Infantry formations. But that's the quick short answer. When I get back from work ... I'll see what I can dig up ! :D

This is what I've got for TO&E  for 1940 France - I just hope it's legible!

Regards,
Reaver

That is useful, Reaver.  And Nico, I found that information from the AH Panzer Leader, 1940 article. This could be very useful from both a historical and a gaming stand point. Since you sent me some Ork Decals free, I could copy it and mail it to you ? LMK !  I'm glad to help !  :D

Another good source for me for learning about French armor is AH's Squad Leader/Advanced Squad Leader. It's still one of my favorite wargames.

Yep, AH's SL & ASL are great games too.  I'll tell you what ... I sort of started my "basic training" with AH, S&T/SPI, GDW, etc. in High School !  :D

Oh yeah, now my plans for France (without better knowledge) is:

Infantry Battalion (?): 45 men, 9 stands of infantry
2 MG units

Infantry Battalion (?): 45 men, 9 stands of infantry
3 Mortar units

ATG Company (?):
2 * 75 field gun
2 * 25 ATG
2 * MG units

Fast tank Battalion (?) (dont know how many French tanks are company and how many companies they have in battalion, or how they would call battalion like this (or do they even use mixed formations like this))
5 * S-35 Tank
4 * H-35 Tank

Slow tank Battalion (?) (same as above)
4 * Char B1 bis
3 * R-40 Tank

Artillery support
3 * 105 mm

Sidenote: I learned that Germans had 3 tanks per company, 3-4 companies per battalion, 2 battalion per regiment.

Great link! And TO&E means "Tables of Organization and Equipment" i.e. what is the "paper" strength of unit X, how it was organized and what equipment it had.  :)  Ha! Beat L4 to it!  :p

BTW, the Blitzkrieg Commander Finnish armylist needs a bit fine tuning. I already posted comments on the Winter War listto the BKC forum but then got lazy and didn't go to Continuation War.

AH is Avalon Hill, a company that produced wargames, not of the tabletop variety, but rather using cardboard pieces and played on boards. Squad Leader/Advanced Squad Leader is a tactical-level WWII game where each piece represents an individual squad, vehicle, weapon or artillery piece.

Unfortunately Hasbro bought out AH.

I think so. However, MultiMan Publishing did by the rights to Advanced Squad Leader (ASL) from Hasbro and its currently in production.  :)
