Traveller was one of the RPGs that got me into gaming in the early 1980s.

And as cludgy as the rule sets were for their starship combat systems we had a heck of a lot of fun with them marred only by the fact their were no real capital ships for play only the smaller "adventurer" ships.

That finally looks like it's about to change... but why oh why does it have to be Ad Astra games doing the miniatures?

As beautiful as these look like they're going to be the price point on them by the time they hit Canada makes GW's look reasonable. :(

Having said that I'm sure I'm going to end up picking up no small amount of them... I'm so very very weak sometimes.

:p

Funky looking, but bad about the pricing you mention.
The big blocked one asks to be included in a BFG Rogue Trader Fleet.

Awesome models, a tad unimaginative, but sleek designs and crisp clear sculpting and casting :), a lot better than most of the market.

Yeah, I think you're right, I do like the bigger one though.

Brutha, you know I'm there on the pre-order action.

They haven't actually been produced. All pictures are renderings.

I'm going to try talking Ken Burnside of Ad Astra into making my Starfire ships. We used to work together on the Starfire Design Board.

I just got a whopping $120 charge for the pre-orders, so apparently they're in production. Surprise!

D'oh... and my lawyer money is almost gone, yet still no divorce.

One of the things I like about Traveller was the meson gun - huge hulking brutes that required no weapon aperture, and more or less defined the nature of competitive fleets. Or, at least, that was the result of the various Trillion Credit Squadron competitions.

Nice to see I'm not the only crazy one on the board then. :D

The pre-orders went fairly fast on these... I think the last time I looked a couple of weeks ago they were only at 40 odd sets for each fleet.
