i have dabbeled in hg in the past. well, scince the begining. i like the "idea" of the game. and the background is way cool. the new locked and loaded 1.1 is out and i've just ordered a copy. i have about 10 gears left over, so i can try it out when i get the rule book.
what i was wondering is this: what books do you recommend i get besides the rules? how do you like the blitz rules? and lastly, whats a good starting force? thanks!

You should really check out www.dp9forum.com. It's the company forum, and is thus rather helpful. Have you tried the Blitz Quick Start rules? They're pretty good.

Blitz is decent, though it carries some flaws. Of course, all rulesets do. I'm not unfond of it. It's major problem, IMO, is information overload - when you're learning, it can be a real pain to keep track of all the different acronyms and what they mean, and thus you can kind of end up paralyzed, unsure what to do to start playing. The two big flaws I can think of are that indirect fire is really good and that there's not much point to walking since rolling about is just as effective for almost everything.

The South and the North both make decent starter forces, and I believe that DP9 has come out with an official starter pack that gives you some of each.

The semi-official fan-magazine also just put out some updates, so you really should check in with the official forums and ask these questions there. They'll be able to help you far, far more than I can. :)

i hear tell heavy gear is big in the great white north. i really like the background of terra nova. and you can't tell me the gears don't look awsome. so i ordered the rule book. i hope it was'nt a waste.

Well, I'm glad I paid for it myself. And the minis are definitely pretty nice. :)
