So who are the "bad guys" in the rulebook?

There are no real "Bad Guys" ... Have you read the boosk ? The Merc forces in the Slammer Universe are guns for hire ... the fight for who hires them. Against who the are told ... I haven't read the books. So you fight other mercs fielding the same equipment?

Read the Books ... And look at the sites I posted ... not all Mercs use the same equipment ... And they even ran into an Alien forces ... the Molt ... Have you read the Handbooks 1 & 2 & "The Crucible" ? That should answer all your questions.

I have the crucible on the way. I saw on the page that it lists orders of battle for other merc companies. Im only interested in this as a game, I thought the figures were kinda neat.

Definatively the slammers. Read some of the books!

Well The Crucible should answer all your questions then ... And the websites I sent should help too. But you are missing out on so exciting Mil-Sci-fi by not reading the Books, IMO ... Note my Avatar - I'm a Slammer-phile, and look forward to Old Crow releasing them in 6mm later this year ... All I do is 6mm Sci-fi these days ... The scenario you set by saying you never read the books but like the models ... is kind of like seeing model of WWII AFVs, Infantry, etc., but knowing nothing about the War !!
