Looking for some "blind" playtesters to read through and play a 6mm (or 10/15mm if you prefer) scifi game I've been working on for a while now. While there is a publisher lined up, nothing is ever guaranteed. I can't promise much in the way of compensation, except being named in the credits (and maybe a copy of - or discount on - the final rules). The game's complexity level is slightly more than FWC, but less so than DSII. It's generic in nature, with full construction rules, and capable of covering any period from historicals through far, far future. There are several army lists in development for some existing figure lines and some familiar backgrounds (with names changed to protect my not-so-innocent behind) that can be forwarded in their current (nearly completed) state after a few playtest reports have been received. The game is currently written as three separate books, each having a selection of scenarios and units that illustrate the new elements presented therein. The main rulebook encompasses most of the futuristic, mid-to-high tech that one would expect to see in a scifi game. The second incorporates new weapons and systems, organic (arachnids/tyranids/aliens) and hybrid (think shadows/vorlons, or Farscape) troops and weapon systems, some lower tech systems, and optional rules for special characters. The third adds gunpowder/sail elements, along with other items one would need to play Victorian-style scifi games, along with the highest tech equipment. Combat rules encompass (over the three books) ground/air/sea/undersea/underground combat, and include most every type of vehicle seen in scifi, be it games, movies, books, artwork, whatever... and all are compatible with each other, making for some very interesting gaming possibilities. If you're just curious about what they're all about, please don't respond. I'm looking for groups that can commit to playing 4-8 games by the end of February (each game averages 1.5 to 2 hours, with some games being a bit shorter or a bit longer). If this sounds intriguing to you (and who wouldn't want to field aeronefs against grav tanks?), please PM me with some basic info about yourself and an email address, and I'll get something out to you within a couple of days. Thanks! |

Pardon for replying to my own post, but I've been getting the "too many users" error intermittently this morning... so I didn't give as much info as I would have liked in the first post. Game play: turns are alternating unit activations, with units of 2-4 vehicles or squads per activating platoon. It's slightly tilted towards being hardware-oriented, but CnC and morale play important roles as well. Electronic warfare is integrated into the vehicle combat system, plus there are some special EW-type weapons and defenses that can be deployed. Vehicles range in size (and weaponry/functionality) from one-hit-one-kill armed jeeps up to multi-hit-multi-weapon Bolo/Ogre-sized; infantry can be as simple as civilians with pointed sticks, as complex as SST (book) power armor/terminators or flying exosuits, or anything in between. What about air support, planetary assault, artillery/ortillery, air mobile, hand-to-hand-assaulting vehicles, cavalry, submarines, air combat, and overruns, you say? All there, and more. I've had a couple of questions about the relative complexity level - it's about the same as warmachine - simple mechanics with special rules for different unit types (though there are a lot of special rules... but I doubt anyone would use them all in a single game). If you want a simple, tank v. tank game, you can play through a 40-50 per side game in less than 2 hours, and a little over that if you add the bells and whistles. Hope that helps! |

A strange question KaJo, but how solo friendly is your game? Thanks, Furgie |
