Well, I finally managed to get two test-ships painted. They look better in person, as the flash tends to wash out the depth. Comparison-shot of 2 resin Dreads (mine), 1 metal Dread (Studio Bergstrom), and 1 Modified Nebulon-B (SWMB) It was hard to decide what color to make the drive flare, since I was torn between an "angry" red, or this "happier" light blue. Paintjob was accomplished thusly; Spray-prime in Black (Krylon Ultra-flat Black) Base-paint in Charadon Granite (GW Foundation) Dry-brush in Codex Gray (GW Paint) Wash in Badab Black (GW Wash) Drive-flare done with a mix of Prussian Blue and Titanium White (Liquitex Art Acrylics) This achieves a decent table-top standard, considering I'm painting over 200 of the things, though the Katana will receive extra detailing, as will the extras for the Rendili Home Defense Fleet. I may try to convert a few into Assault Frigates eventually, but that will wait until I have finished molding the first couple of hundred. For those of you that haven't been reading my blog, I'm attempting to recreate the Katana fleet, amongst other things. Dreadnaught Count: 118 Resin and 7 Metal http://corellianmusings.blogspot.com/ |

Would love to get some Star Wars starships painted but I have too much on my painting table for the time being. Definitely agree with the blue for the drive flares. Cheers James |

Did you cast those yourself, or did you purchase them. If purchased, where? I just bought Starmada and want to do SW. |

Those pictured are my own casts, which are roughly 1/20,000. I exaggerated a few details on my own masters. They are also available in metal form via Studio Bergstrom; http://studiobergstrom.com/index.php?categoryID=83 I've ordered a few hundred dollars worth of items through 'Drew, and he runs a top-notch business. Also, you can order your fleet-scale snub-fighters through him! |
