I cut my teeth on Battletech back in the 80's, so when Heavy Gear came out I jumped all over it. I loved, and still do, the models, and bought every back I could get my hands on.
Then it faded from memory for about 10 years until it resurfaced in the form of Blitz, and, like most every game that hits the "New Release" shelf in the FLGS, a number of us bought it.
A small number of those same people bought the models for the game. Thankfully I didnt...not because they arent awesome, but because the game petered out in popularity and no one is playing it now, so I dont have yet ANOTHER army sitting unused in my game closet.
That being said, I think the game has some substantial potential as a nice Combined Arms game (which is what tempted me to play Epic, as I love CA!)
What frustrated me from playing it was the whole "Target Lock" thing, which seemed to just complicate things, but some of my friends who played said it was easily figured out, so at this point its just an impression I have. Also, with my knowledge of the old Gears and their named variants, alot of that is missing from the new game. Sure, some of the variants ARE in the game but new players wouldnt have any idea what their "names" are, or at least used to be...
So I'd say check it out, but we couldnt maintain momentum on the system.
