Well, this certainly surprises me:

http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/news....6db999a

After a very successful number of years producing miniatures for our Origins award-winning game A Call to Arms, Mongoose Publishing is announcing today that we will cease production of this range of models with effect from March 31st 2008.

The increasing costs associated with this range combined with its sheer breadth means that production of miniatures is no longer commercially viable at this time. As a result we have reduced our prices on the miniatures by 20%, which will continue until March 31st 2008, when they will be removed from our catalogue. So, if you have been thinking about that new Shadow fleet or want to bolster the defences of the ISA, now is the time!

We will still continue to support A Call to Arms through Signs & Portents and book releases.

It's been quite a few years since the series ended, I guess that popularity is on the downslope.

Ugh, their quality control really sucked on those minis. I really, really, liked the pictures of them, but after a few bad experiences, swore off of them.

The things I bought from them either had missing pieces, or were badly pitted.

I didn't know about the bad quality of the models / quality control. 20% price reduction seems nice though to get some additional BFG models.

BFG loses one of its main competing systems.

Hmm. It seems my skills have improved. Previously a game was only killed if I actually picked up the rulebook. This happened when I was just in the first stages of deciding whether to buy it or not...  :glare:

Mojarn, please do not be tempted by Warmaster and Warhammer ancients, DBA and its offshoots, Aeronef and the related games, Triumph and Tragedy or 0.45 Adventures.

In that case, send me your address and I will buy you a copy of the 40K rule book!  :D

Heh, I picked warmaster up when it was released so some games may actually have a degree of immunity.

Still, looking at the direction SG is going it will only be a matter of time before it, too, succumbs to Mojarn's Rot.

I picked up Warmaster Ancients, seems to me that their will always be a range available for that ;).

That is a coincidence. I am looking for a copy of the core rule book (dont ask!  :;): ) and just got outbid on eBay.

Hi!

It seems Mongoose is in deep waters. It can't seem to keep a game afloat.

Hmm, I bought the Call to Arms rulebook and fleet book... yesterday!  Doh!

My FLG suggested to me that GZG (Ground Zero Games) producted "look-alike" B5 ships.  However, a perusal of the GZG website did not seem to turn them up.

Can anyone here advise if that is true (and I just haven't found them, or they are ones without pictures)?

They have some look-alike fighters, but not ships.

Download their catalog (http://www.groundzerogames.net/index.ph ... &Itemid=50) and go to page 11. Look for "Merchants and Miscellaneous"
