The Complete Hammer's Slammers Vol.3 is available for preorder ! ?I just p/ordered 3 for some of the crew ! ?This is the last of all of Drake's Hammer's Slammers books/stories/etc. ... Each volume had a new story or two.  Ever wonder what happened to the Major ? :;):   And there are pics of the official Old Crow models from the Handbooks too ... ?Rumor is that Dave is going to write more ! ?:)

Hm. I have been thinking about getting something new to read. What do L4 and all people who have read Drake say; do you have to be a soldier to get the most of his books?

I've only read the one (and passed it along to 'V') and I enjoyed it so you don't have to have been a soldier. Perhaps you would recognise the situation and thus be more familiar with some of the goings on if you had been but it didn't detract any. Go for it.

Nope, not at all.  They are fantatsic on many levels, but IMHO you dont need to have served to understand the characters and their situation.

Yes, I've got all of the Slammer books (no surprise !) ?And VOL.3  has 2 new stories in there, as I said. ? M/J, you have a very good knowlegde of history and the military which will only make it that much more "enjoyable". ? You can get everything in these 3 Volumes. Called the Complete Hammer's Slammers Vols. 1, 2, 3 ... I got mine from Overstock.com. at about $25 per Vol. ... ?And the Books have pics of the O/C models from the 2 Drake Approved ?Handbooks/Rules, which I also have. ?Of course, if you get the 2 Handbooks and the 3 Vols.; you get the complete sum total of all the Slammer intell in the known universe ! :D ?I even got a copy of the old OOP Mayfair Game (basically Panzerblitz in the Hammer's world )! ?:) ??The two Handbook/Rules are available from Pireme Publishing in the UK. So if you are looking to get "Hammer'd" ?I can send you the links. ?:;): ? ??I got the OOP game from Bartertown IIRC ... ?Now if those guys at O/C only do 6mm versions of their Slammer AFVs, my life will be complete ! ?I guess, if I say it enough it might just happen ! ?:laugh:
