wargame_insomniac,

Record keeping has always been a problem with Classic battletech.  The game simply is too cumbersone on many levels.  It can ony play fast with experienced players, running small forces.

In the battle report above I was testing my version of the rules.  My goal was to speed up the game as much as possible. It worked pretty well.

A very good solution that I like is Battleforce 2.  Very good for mass Mecha battles. Plays fast and simple record keeping.

Hi CC

I heard of a fan-designed version of MWDA called Techwarrior. It was intended to make MWDA play more like Battletech whilst still being quicker playing than CBT. I don't know if I kept the download.

You could try asking on the CBT forums. You might get a better response from there than on the MWDA forums as I suspect that CBT players are a bit more open-minded than MWDA players.

Cheers

James

LOL.

CBT players are guys who have been playing the same rule system for 20 years and see no need to change it.

I don't post my rules ideas on the CBT forums anymore.

at least I can talk about it here.    :D

Hey, CC... if you want to speed up the games, you could use Megamek for that purpose.

Given that it will do most calculations and rolling for you, I envisage the following:
The maps and mechs are normally deployed on the board.
That setup is then entered into Megamek.

The players use the game board for gameplay and tactical planning, and enter all their moves into Megamek so that the game does the rolling and bookkeeping for them.

Or is that not really as feasible as I imagine?
