I got an email from Wargames Factory about them worrying about the IP infringement. I asked some questions and gave them a clearer picture of what I was looking for (a Necron proxy army) and gave suggestions of what they could look like.

I'm hoping the show of interest is enough for them to keep at it.

You might reduce IP issues by getting rid of the skimmers.  It will be hard to make them look right but also non-infring-y.  If you make Destroyers and Heavy Destroyers infantry, it won't be a problem cutting off legs and putting them on plastic Scarabs.

I don't see the need to eliminate skimmers. It's not like GW created the idea of anti-grav vehicles.

I got an email back.  In short, they'll see how it goes and design is critical.

I was actually hoping for something like the old look for the skimmers.  An android sitting on top/strapped into/welding into a hover platform with a gun to the side. A Centaur like skimmer might be too close.
