Only defence Finland has is that it's not worthwhile to invade Finland(what do we have anyway?) to compensate for the political mess it would cause. Even if Finland isn't particulary important world others can't stand by watching somebody invade other Finland. Because if they invade Finland then why not other nearby countries as well?

Good grief, you guys should see what Malta has to defend itself with.....  :p I'd bet even my conversions would be put to use - they'd be recast into pellets for shotguns.....  :(

I still am missing something (perhaps a whole page of replies  :p ) - will there be bugs?

Yes. Lots of countries are relying on it not being worth of political mess to invade it. Finland is no exception. I wouldn't rate chances of Finland holding even 2 weeks against Russian for starters(and nevermind the nukes...). Best thing Finnish army could do if invaded by Russian would be to surrender ASAP. Atleast that way we wouldn't have entire army massacred in a short order needlessly.

Anyway what you mean with bugs? If you mean arachnids in the SST of course there are going to be arachnids released. First month MI will get LAMI(movie troops) and grizzlies(book troops. This is good move as the initial troops are the most recognisable). Arachnids will get warriors(the basic stuff) and tanker(the big flaming bug from the movie). Skinnies will have raiders and warriors(basic troops of that race. Raiders are...Well members of raiding parties while soldiers are better equipped professional soldiers) and Forth will be getting basic walker and command walker.

Nah. On january there will be real world based game with no bugs in sight. SST will be relaunched sort of on april with MI, bugs, skinnies and as a new army forth(and late in the year 5th army, the coven, will be released as well! And I guess the 6th race will then be released somewhere around 2008).

Bugs ain't going anywhere. Afterall MI needs something to shoot at  :;):

That logic didn't apply in WWII and I doubt it applies now.

a) WW2 and there was that little threat called German(whose allies we were on the second war anyway. No mercy for allies of German) to be worried about. Also Europe has gone "bit" more united than then.
b) In WW2 there was this mandman called Stalin who executed any sensible leaders soviet union had leaving only generals whose strategical sense was on WW1 level... Also military technology wasn't as advanced as now so while we had defendable positions there now they would be nothing but death traps to far more advanced weapons. Not to mention Russian wouldn't be as limited to ground assault as then. They decide to invade and they would open up with invasion of Helsinki taking out president and rest of leaders in one swift action...

If Russian would invade NOW they would be better led(poor leadership of soviet union defeated them. Not finnish troops) and have much better technology. Finnish army meanwhile hasn't advanced. Relatively it has degenerated compared to back then(especially regarding leadership. We don't have allies in Russian anymore like in WW2).

If Russian would invade finland we would hold week, maybe two and then army would have been defeated. We simply don't have anywhere NEAR the manpower or technology to hold. To have that we would a) need to increase reqular military strenght LOT more and b) invest HEAVILY into latest equipment(tanks, air forces, AT and AA missiles and whatnot. Of course this would drive Finland to bankrupt but without this we simply cannot hold against somebody like Russian.).

There's only so far will to fight carries you. You can have greatest willpower to defend your country but if you are fighting with wooden sticks and opponent runs around in main battle tank you are "slightly" disadvantaged.

Luckily for Finland it's not worth political mess for Russian to invade us(not that there's much worth invading anyway).

Sounds like interesting stuff. I wasnt too thrill with the inital release, but this sounds like a step in the right direction.

I sure hope so. Game is good enough to justify it's place in wargaming world so I hope it proves to be success.

So far it seems like this could turn out to be very good(demand for good quality pre-painted seems to be bigger than I thought). Maybe next year GW will be gritting their teeth on why didn't they do this first  :laugh:

More competition is only a good thing as it drives development(the quality mongoose archieved came practically by accident as they tried to better Rackhams similar venture. They pretty much overdid it as turns out rackhams first pictures were not final quality. Now this I find amusing :laugh: ).

Maybe GW wakes up one day and realises their monopoly is no longer there(what with stuff like SST, warmachine, hordes and whatnot being out there) and they actually need to a) listen to their customers b) treat them with respect c) have reasonably priced material and d) have set of quality rules.

One can always hope  :;): . If GW does that maybe there's even hope for SG(they certainly have quality rules part right).
