http://uk.games-workshop.com/apps....late=uk I hope this doesn't affect the SG forums. Can't say I thought much of the GW forums, but it?s still a surprise to me. |

It's a surprise to me, too. I never frequented the GW forum, mainly because I don't play any of the "Big Three." It wouldn't surprise me to see the SG forum shutdown as well. Can't say I would miss all that much, especially since Tac Comm is now the center of the 6mm universe. |

"...I need to make clear that the Shutdown of the Global Forums is NOT a subject for discussion. And neither are the core games." I thought that was the whole purpose of a forum. For people to talk about their hobby. |

Are you kidding, not on a GW forum its not. Better practice this mantra, GW TEh Rocksors!!!! thats about all you can say if they are moding a board. Anyway although I gave up spending any time or effort over on their forum I do feel bad for those gamers who just lost another peice of support and place to socialise. |

It's just as well. The GW forums were some of the worst on the web, hardly befitting an industry leader. Many smaller companies have far more usable and user-friendly forums. I wonder what the impetus behind this is, though? A move to a new format (long, long overdue) or some kind of trouble in the house? My inner conspiracy-theorist says that they closed the forums to stifle criticism, except that I already know from personal experience that criticism of any sort on the GW forums is quickly and irrevocably quashed by the Mods. |

I agree with a lot of what?s said above. As forums, the format made them practically useless. However, if they are to be replaced by new forums, then you?d think they would say so. It?s not like there is a shortage of alternative, but if players go to third party forums then their won?t be a shortage of people telling kids about alternative minis manufacturers. Criticism was hurriedly stifled but that?s the only reason I can think of for shutting them. As a cost cutting measure, this seems rather excessive. |

Hi! The equation is simple. GW sales seem to be going downhill, a forum gives a place for negative information to be passed along regarding their high prices. In their view its no longer cost effective to pay or maintain a service that may only return negative press and thus less sales. No surprise to me. Primarch |

It's not beyond the realms of possibility. ?In fact, my first thought was that it's the biggest possibility!  ?The news was something of a surprise to me; but after the debacle with the short-lived White Dwarf forum, it doesn't come as any great shock. |

I'd say it probably has more to do with them thinking it's simply not generating any additional sales. It seems to me that it's short-sighted on the marketing front but that seems par for the course these days... |
