I came across this movie in the shop today. The plot reads like a good Traveller RPG game and some of the pics from the website look pretty good. http://www.serenitymovie.com/ Anybody seen it? Is it any good? cheers! Tas |

I picked up the TV series (Firefly) just after Christmas. They made a single series of 12 episodes before Fox cancelled it. It is made by Joss Whedon (Buffy) and is essentially a Space Western series, with humour (very Buffy style). I am waiting for the film to be released here (Monday) and will certainly be buying it. I havent seen the movie yet, but the series is really good, and I seriously recommend that people pick it up. I hope that the movie will race through and reveal some of the hooks set up in the first series but which never got uncovered when it was cut. It is different from most of this type, as it is set in a human-only galaxy, horses are still the best transport and the Serenity (the ship they travel on) is transport only with no weaponry. |

It's good and it will stand alone if you haven't seen any of the Firefly eps. I disagree with CS about the humor style. At least in the movie, I wouldn't have called it Buffy-style. I've only seen 1-2 eps, though, so maybe it's more apparent there. I plan to get both the series and the movie eventually. |

The movie was decent. Eminently better than the last Star Wars movie. TV level production values, acting, and plot, but nevertheless quite entertaining. |

They have/had a Gun. A dorsal mounted twin linked Flak of some sort. But the will loose it in a fight. Cheers! Steele |

The gun looked like a twin bofors 40mm cannon not what one could call hi-tech,still for a crew of quasi-pirate types not a bad deal.Since they always seem to be one step away from the breakers yard,thats a pretty mean gun.The film aint half bad,never saw the show........wheres the so called humour then?Didn't catch much of that in the film.Nice production though,although it would need to go some to match Bab-5. |

Well I enjoyed the film, but found the dialogue hard to hear at times. It read like a great Traveller adventure! And some of the comments were amusing! |

I also got the DVD as a present. I must admit that I prefer the series (and as a fan of the series there were parts of the movie that shocked me!), but I enjoyed the film a lot too. There is a lot more humour in the series. |
