Hi all,
SG have provided a pdf doc giving scale cutout models for playtesting a Necron army. Most are based on photos of 40K Necrons. Very nice, actually - but I can't help feeling a great sense of sadness here...

Maybe this has been brought op before, but wouldn't it be possible to use Warmaster Undead for Necron in Epic? |

Hi Blackhorizon, I think it has been considered - the twin problems are lack of technologically-oriented skeletons and the scale, which at 10mm is too large. Current favourites are the old Chaos androids, perfect for the job but rare. The old plastic orcs have also been used - and turned out much better than one would think without seeing them. Vehicles could be a problem, although 40K Scarabs can be used for Destroyer bodies and monolths can presumably have different shapes. |

Ah, thanks for that. I was just wondering, didn't knew Warmaster & Epic had different scales. Why did they do that anyway?

Ummmm - to promote non-interchangability?  Or perhaps because I think 10mm is more popular in fantasy; Epic has been 6mm since the dawn of time, and remained that way - er - more or less. Then again, Warmaster daemons are ok! Back to the Necs - as I said above, don't get me wrong, I like the cutouts, but to be the hobby is about wargaming and modelling (and not necessarily in thet order  ), and this feels all sorts of - sad.

I happen to agree with you on this one 'V', it is rather sad, I suspect that that may be one of the reasons they prevaricated on posting them (see SG Blog) I certainly hope that these are not the only Epic Necrons we are ever going to see. |

Hi! The single most reason I never bought into warmaster was the use of the 10mm scale. I waited YEARS for a TRUE epic fantasy game and they give me 10mm....  Primarch |

I dont necessarily see this as a bad thing. At the end of the day, SG will find it very difficult to publish new minis. They cant really put out minis when there is no army list available. But, at the same time, it is very difficult getting anyone to invest time playtesting a force without any minis to use. If this allows people to playtest the bots (and this was always one list that was barren of playtesters), and that this then helps convince SG/GW to put out real Necrons, I am all for it. |

If ever ... Everybody send G/W-S/G-F/W an e-mail with the words: "EPIC NECRONS" 100 times ... see what happens ... I'd rather see Epic Necrons than any other new unneeded Epic models ... the E40K versions are fine for most ...

they just cant seem to get their heads out of their ahem long enough to get it together, even acknowledging the fact that Jervis doesnt make fiscal decisions, some of the purely online decisions have been just as bad. Seeing the card board cutouts just tells me they are beginning to realise they are loosing peoples interest in even sticking with them over there, their trying to throw us a bone or something. |
