Dysartes, it occurs to me that with Portent gone, you have a great opportunity to offer the 40k/Fantasy community a home. Will Dysartes.com be picking up the pieces from Portents demise?

The EPICentre would help, but we have no 40k/Fantasy content, and to be honest I really don't like 40k :). Would be nice to know that all those people have a home to go to though. I don't know what I would do if EPIComms collapsed :S. Hardly worth thinking of! Might actually have to work :O!

Aww, that's sad. I wasn't a member, as I only ever managed to stick around this place, but I regularly took a look to see what was going on. Thanks guys.

They had cool t-shirts, and the forums did offer me a massive amount of help when I was creating my Empire army. I lost heavily, due to not setting up my charges right, but did enjoy the games. Next time, I get it right, I was reacting and letting my opponent dictate the pace of the game, I almost never make that mistake. Oh well, it was my first game in a decade!

When I planned for my first 40k game, they helped me set up a decent army list. It was a convincing victory - but still so mind numbing, kiddy tactics only IMHO. I quite enjoyed 2nd Ed, but 3rd ed was pants. Haven't tried 4th ed yet and am not really intending too.

The part of Portent I liked the most was the background section of the forums, I have always been a bit of a fluff addict!

A sad day... :(

I used to hang aroud at Portent quite a bit before coming here, and like Tom, I really enjoyed the fluff discussions (and the modelling forum)!
Seven years is still dead impressive.... so well done to the whole community there. :blues:

Not entirely sure if we'll end up getting all the pieces, but we are getting some - about 30 new sign-ups since that page went live, Tom, with more appearing every hour.

If anyone knows anyoe looking for a "replacement" for Portent, feel free to send them in my direction :)

netepic, sorry to hear that, icecream and jelly are great but not when enforced.

Dysartes, good for you, hopefully your organisation will continue to grow.

Had I known you had Nuns at your beck and call then I would have tried the sympathy vote.

Dammit.... and damn the girl who infected me :'(, she wasn't even that pretty.

Yes, I found this sad news as well... I also discovered the portent people very helpful in sorting out rules clarifications etc. Time to head over to dysartes place :)  Hope the tonsilitis calms down Tom!
