I can't see that chunk of scenery adding much to gang fights, especially if it's all the scenery that comes in the box.... Surely they would've known that, although simple, the scenery in Necromunda was (and still is) fantastic. Multi-level terrain with a web of walkway and gantries is a staple of Necromunda and it seems a great shame to resurrect a wonderful game without something that makes it so different from other skirmish games

Yeah, I'm a bit upset that a)they didn't officially announce the pre-order date for the game, and b) they didn't make enough copies of the game that everyone that wanted one could get one.

Looks like a good game, though. I loved Necromunda, and a version that uses plain 40k units seems like a no-brained.

Maybe they'll do a second print run, but I doubt it. It's possible that there were actually plenty of copies made, but they were all bought by scalper bots.

Given how quickly the first print run sold out, I'd be amazed of they didn't reprint.

You can still get this from most mail order houses, even now.

...and yes, this is supposedly Necromunda v1.1.

As Schoon said its sold out so did they need to offer pre-order or do a massive push? For me the refreshing thing here is that they are going back to some of the older games. Will they stay as just box sets? Maybe who knows. But if the rules include the ability to add other races and use existing minis then I am happy with that. It may even be the same for any other releases they do, for instance AT

My only minor complaint is that the box set is Orks V Marines. For me Necro was more about civillians/criminals and maybe the beginnings of of gene stealer cults. But hey, if the rules still allow for this I am happy

yeah but that requires new designs vs stuffing existing sprues into the box

Don't they have those already with GSC?

From a business standpoint I understand why they would want the plastic squad boxes as the basis for the kill teams, but as an Eldar player, I think it would have made a bit more sense (based on the background) for the craftworld Elder kill team to consist of rangers instead of dire avengers and guardians.

Also, Another no-brainer would have been to actually include Ordo Xenos kill teams as one of the options.

I think the best bet for old school necromunda ganger squads would be to use the chaos cultist rules. But I haven't actually read those, so I might be wrong.

The Chaos Marines are mandatory for those, the cultists aren't.

From a background and fluff perspective, I'm totally with you.

I suspect the choice may have been made in terms of "which basic troop type are players likely to already have, and which is most easily customized?" After all, it's all about the hobby...

I much prefer the gang warfare background and models of the old Necromunda. This is a new version of the same style of game only, but with a pool of usable choices from existing plastic kits, hence the only new plastic for the game could be all reserved for the scenery.

I agree on the rangers comment, they would have made much more sense for the setting. I'd hope they might at least include the option to take them in the eldar gang list, but it wouldn't surprise me if not giving how much GW prioritise plastic these days.

There seems to be less scenery in the new game (understandably as it's all plastic rather than mostly cardboard) but it's been well designed to modular and customisable and able to be made multi-level. Have you all seen the cool oil rig board GW made from the kits?

Anyone else thinking some of the industrial bits like that dome and the towers could be converted and used as epic scenery? They could represent large reactors or industrial things. I plan to build a gaming table later in the year, with modular tiles so I can have properly sunk in terrain like rivers and edge sections of a sea. I want to be able to cover a 6 by 4 table with dense city terrain and a large industrial harbour area which could look good and incorporate bits from here.

FYI - GW announced that they will be releasing a rulebook for the game with all the web content that's come out recently, as well as adding Sisters of Battle and Inquisition.

Preorder starts on April 22nd...
