Post subject:  GW NEARLY DEAD ?

So with all the hipe last year about GW bringing back specialist games, i had a look on the web recently and found no updates.... So i looked on GWs main website. What an absolute barrel of ....... The website is so bland and its content is lacking in so many ways, the only think that pops out at you on screen are the prices. !

So they have a new model a rouge trader edtion one off model at 50 bucks ! and they have a new game called the lost patrol, looks like a poorly thrown together space hulk rip off set in the jungle, minatures are poor quality also.

this new team sure seems to be turning gw round............not

I personally think this year gw will fold for good ::)

Cheers apoc,

2017..... the company will not be around by that time ;) I also think it just hype as the box art is the old computer game artwork also blood bowl would be the last thing i would bring back as it has been covered by everyone now outside gw. They are way to far gone to pull back specialist games under the reins again IMO.

Was there not a lost patrol game from GW before? In 1999/2000ish??

Exactly. that much of a good game no one knows if they made it before lol. Anyone with any brains which most people have these days given GW prices would be copy the game rules and buy genestealer minatures and jungle fighters of ebay ! The only reason space hulk sold so well was the minatures you only have to look at what the minatures sold for on ebay at crazy prices yet the actual boxed game contents went for peanuts.

GW have no idea, they have never listened to customers and that is why i reckon they will fold this year. the only thing you will see by the start of GW in 2017 will be its brand name on console games and pc games. the minatures and stores will be history ::)

They sell so. many. space marines though, i doubt 40k will disappear as a miniatures games in some form (even if it gets AoS'd) this year, plastic marines are too lucrative.

I agree, their latest board game offerings have been a bit odd, but that 30k one would have sold by the warehouse-load even if it was non-functioning as a game.

What odds are you offering on that? :)

haha i will stick to pretty good odds, way to many overheads as the plastics they need to sell even given the 30k doing ok, the only thing on paper that has kept gws head above the water this year is the litrature and digital games rights. i reckon 90 to 1 in favour ;D

OK, I'll take that bet for £500. You can write me a postdated cheque ;)

While I agree that for many of us *cough* older gamers who feel GW have lost their way and we remember the glory days of Rouge Trader, 40K Ed 1 & 2, bloodbowl, Space Hulk etc I am not entirely sure I agree that they wont be around by the end of the year. Infact, I take your 90:1 odds and put £10K on them. Hope you have the money to pay me back??

The joys of being a publically traded company, you can actually see how they are doing.

Funny you should say that, i recieved an email the other day from an African diamond mining company saying they need to move some funds and would be willing to give me 2.5 million sterling for my troubles, all i have to do is give them all my personal details and banking details....., so i may have the funds to cover the bet lol ;D

I would obviously need 10k sterling up front and i would of course give you a gentlemans agreement ;D i would of excepted 10k worth of GW MERCHANDISE but at the end of the year i will be able to get it 50 percent off in the closing down sale at the end of the year so it is not worth it for the short term gain lol ;D

Regarding the finacial forecast......take it with a pinch of salt this is for the share holders, you only have to look at Tesco for false data. They are not meeting targets and are stagnant. it is all down hill from here for GW. ;D

Give me your bank details and I will set the monies transfer up from my Nigerian business account.

Fully agree but doesn't mean it isn't a shame

GW is not almost dead, regardless of the wishful thinking. Love them or hate them, they're still here for some time. Unless something unforseen and catastrophic happens, that is.

LOL
