Not sure where to stick this question so...

Anyone else notice that Warseer seems to be, well, gone? I don't spend too much time there but there's a few painting blogs I stalk and of course the AoS/WHFB flames are entirely too much fun to read.
Me reading AoS threads=>

http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/warseer.com shows just down though WHOIS shows the records are at least ok still.

Anyone heard anything about what's up?

It goes out on occassion. The site is junk. Most of the content is just hate-filled, nerdrage junk. I visit it sometimes purely for the drama, but on occassion to read up on some GW rumors as well.

I was just on it yesterday, earlier in the day.

Well as I said, there's some painting threads I stalk so whether warseer is crap or not isn't really pertinent. :P
I've seen the site down over the years but never offline so its interesting. Perhaps Wintermute finally ban-hammered the last user and the site imploded? :D

It wouldn't be the first time they go down for a few days at a time.

It crashes from time-to-time. I used to be a regular there, and it had some downtime periods when the server ran into issues. They did have a long period of downtime once a couple of years back, but that was announced in advance.

Well, this is the longest I ever recall it being down.

t was down for more than two weeks when they had to make upgrades and changes following a virus attack. I guess this is coming up to a similar length of time.

Apparently this is not the case, they got a C&D by Grandma Wendy (if /tg/ sources are to be believed in deed true.

What so GW closed them down for being fanatical about all there products, jeez you can't win with some companies.

I would be very sceptical about such sources. A server and database is much more likely to be the cause, especially when you look at the error message generated when going to WarSeer's website.

Post subject:  Re: Warseer?

At this time, there is no evidence that GW sent a C&D to one of it biggest and most vocal fan-based supporters, it is just rumor. However, as absurd as that would be, it still wouldn't surprise me if it were true. Though the Warseer fanbois always took great strides to keep their forums very GW-squeaky-clean, to the point of deleting posts that said bad things about GW...and sometimes posts that said good things about GW. But, like I said, GW seems to hate free advertising in any form, so forcing Warseer to shut shouldn't surprise anyone.

Still, it just seems to be technical for now. But we'll know someday.

yeah agreed. I suspect the server's system drive just simply died and they're rebuilding the OS/SW myself. Hopefully they've got a better story on their data backup ;)

GW issues cease and desist orders, in the main, for copyright infringements. While it's possible that this could have happened in WarSeer's case, if that were to have happened, it would be unlikely that the forum page would have first been generating server errors and now apache errors. Those errors are consistent with technical problems.

Well, maybe they'll get things sorted out soon.
