Not that this is web news, but it's the closest section to a general spouting off category.

Finished my last class and comps. ~12,000 words with full scholarly citations in a week with a week or less from topic assignments to due dates. I feel victimized.

But on the plus side, I should be able to play some games. :D

Once I get caught up on all the cleanup/honey-do stuff from putting my life on hold, I'll be able to push on some the projects around here that I've let languish. So, if there's stuff that you are especially keen on me working on, give me through the weekend and then feel free to harass me mercilessly.

Congrats Neal, that's grand news. Hope your clearing-stuff-that-was-on-hold phase lasts less than mine :)
Vaaish, good luck. One month is not much.

Another one joins the ranks. TacComms seems to be a rather scholarly community.

I'd like to get your thoughts on the "planetfall upgrade" for Land Speeders in the RG list, and see the list updated. Happy to put in some work on that, if that's what it takes.

English Lit.

My emphasis is on 20th century and critical theory. I tend to favor marxist/postmarxist* approaches. I've also delved a lot into the concept of the self and the relation of the self to society and, to the extent I was able to in my program, I tried to focus on technology and literature (though that kind of focus is difficult at the MA level).

Congrats, Neal. Sounds like a lot o' fancy book-lernin'...
I'm hoping to put my dissertation to bed this fall, for both my own sanity and so Dave doesn't have to hear me moaning about it anymore
I would be careful about giving anyone permission to harass you mercilessly though ;)

Congratulations Neal! :) Well done for getting it done in good time! (not years late like me) Are you familiar with the critical work of Adorno by any chance? I wrote one of my masters essays on him, he's a challenging writer but a fascinating and intelligent one.

Personally I have a scary single month to write up a 20,000 word dissertation on climate change for my Ethics and Social Philosophy MA, which I've only done a little bit of reading for so far. Then, having worked out what I want to do at long last and quit my office job of 5 years, I'm moving in September to a different uni and going back to full time study to do a MSc in Agroforestry. Hope I might find more time to paint and that.

Heh, my Masters was actually only 12 taught weeks then you dissapeared off for the 'research bit'. In reality I got my staff to do it. Still they produced an ok dissertation on 'The viability on replacing food with cash rations for long term refugees in camps, a case study of the Rohingya in Bangladesh'.
