Man-O-War is the one game that I wish I had the money to get into when it was originally released. At the time I was dying to buy a Dwarf fleet, but my funds were limited back then. In any case, it's good to see the old classics like Dark Future available again, even if it is only the rules. |

At the time I was dying to buy a Dwarf fleet, but my funds were limited back then. I got into Man-O-War through sheer luck... as it was being discontinued, the, now gone, Queen Street (Toronto) Games Workshop had a big clearance sale... I got nearly everything for it at a shocking *80%* off! The rest I've had to get through trading and eBay... but I've got 1000 points of each of the "core" fleets... sold off all the Chaos stuff as it started getting too silly. The core game, however, is fantastic! |

Never played Dark Future - but I reckon the kids' Matchbox cars are about to undergo a conversion or two... Regards, Reaver |

I used to love Car Wars! As a teenager I actually modified the rules to use Hot Wheels scale and then added 'Zoids' into the whole thing. They were roughly the same scale (not that its any consolation when you have a 40 meter robotic T-Rex chasing after your turretted Winnebago. Thanks for the info - I'll begin the download tonight! |

Thanks for the heads up. I think I've got all the info in this PDF in my old rules file but it's great for a trip down memory lane - I always found building cars on paper was much more enjoyable than actually playing the game. Edit: It's a pretty rough and ready scan but it does look like it's all there including the pedestrian/skirmish rules. Orde |

I have just flicked through this... and been taken back down memory lane. Fantastic! The scans are a little rough, but sometimes take longer to load and improve. The only issue is not having the track sections. Dark Future is one of the earliest big games from GW (leaving aside Warlock of Firetop Mountain, Judge Dredd, etc). There are two types of car, and bikes. The game is grid based. Each turn is broken into phases, with cars moving in the phase equal or below their speed. Cars can shoot, drop mines, etc. Imagine Mad Max in a wargame. It is fairly fast play, drops the whole gothic 40K feel, and allows cool customisation. Worth downloading. |

I still got the box, weapons sprues and road tiles ... sold or traded everything else off. I got it in a trade ... I use the weapons on some of my Epic conversions. Never played it, but I liked the weapons ! ![]() |

Nice, I think I'll give it a try. At what age can one start playing this game? My son is seven months old which I reckon is still a little too young. ![]() |

Tis a brill game, I have a mass of infantry for it ![]() I have fond memories of converting old cars and toys into road warriors and impromptu road blocks for my militia to arm. And I always loved being in the glare of the media spotlight slowly sending you mad ![]() And of course, Carl Critclow of Thrud fame illustrated it!!! |
