I for one am happy with this, hope it stays 6mm with epic and looking forward to any possible rerelease of some old classics, even with a new spin, I prefer to remain positive until it proven otherwise.

I agree it will likely be in 10mm. I can't imagine it launching any time before 2018 as has already been rumored. A part of me wants this wonderful little gem we call EA to stay the way it is. Although renewed interest and player base can't hurt. I don't particularly trust the current GW though. Will have to wait and see I suppose.

Reading the update from the app, in fact I think the impact on epic as a game will be minimal. It will be a standalone boxed game that may or may not be compatible scale-wise with existing minis. If it piques interest it could be a good thing, but in that format it shouldn't detract from what we have with EA at the moment.

Blimey indeed !

Does sound like they are targeting the one-offs and game-in-a-box market again (something they basically invented afaik.) I suspect the competition will set the pace - Calth looks aimed at the imperial assault / aliens vs pred niche, I expect to see blood bowl and gothic fairly soon to take on their obvious competitors. May be dzc, halo ground or aot might provoke something epic scale but i doubt we'll see a full re release of epic A in its entirety... but I've been wrong once today and would be happy to be so again! :-)

I'll accept a 50 pound pricetag on a model like that. It's not that much more than it usually takes to get a current metal Warlord!

Rumours from 'Lady Atia' are that Horus Heresy Epic and BFG will be a focus- at least initially. Hopefully that'll expand to more xenos races later.

I think this will happen, and will be 6mm

I also think it will be set in the Horus Heresy, Given some of the designs that have been posted with
HH stuff and given the level of detail on these minatures I would probably say that the cad sculpts
have already been sold to GW.

You only have to look not just at epic but others like BFG etc.

When indeglo funders for proxies for 6mm reach double figures with ten times the intial goal, it
does not take brains and a company like GW who works on figures to look at the money they could be
make and have lost.

They can cut the cost of RAD massively by purchasing designs rather then design in house, rules have already
been written on sites such as this, and as for packaging they have this down to a T already.

What they see is fanatic people for the love of specialist games, they see the money spent not just on epic, but blood bowl, bfg etc and other systems that have filled the void since they got rid of Specialist games and
even when they had specialist games they did not support them.

I think GW have finally seen the money they have been missing for a long while and are trying to move back to core game systems, as the one they have at the moment 40k 28mm... talk about putting all your eggs in one basket. !

I also think it will return in 6mm as they know like everybody that most joe public go to such sites as ebay
for minatures and yes have a premium and even with GWs prices new minatures would be cheaper and better quality than the old ebay stuff.

I have a sneaky feeling these products will hit the shelves early on in the new year.

I don't think this new Specialist Games range will ever amount to a significant source of profit for GW, nor will it be allowed to take up much shelf space. But it'll be a good line of defense against some of the new games that are picking up steam, like Infinity, Dropzone Commander, and the Star Wars fighter/starship games (which are significantly different in that they're prepainted, but they are definitely attracting the 40k crowd).

Also, the LOTR license is finally ending. That might be freeing up some resources.

I've been saying that for decades ! And if you are looking for new Epic players as some of you lament, pick one of the Epic rules systems you like. And choose figures from the plethora on both new and old 6mm Sci-fi producers out there today. Again, why is this all dependent on GW ? There are even other good rule systems you could for 6mm sci-fi ...

A new release of Epic by GW *will* bring in new players. New as in new; players you've never met before whom you'd never have a chance to introduce to your favorite alternate rules or miniatures otherwise.

Once they are into 6mm and playing EA, then you can introduce them to other systems and alternate miniature manufacturers if you like.

A new release of EPIC is a good thing, if it actually happens, no matter what you think of GW.

And you may even *like* some of the new Forge World models for 6mm. Do you know how much I'd pay for infantry that looks exactly like my current infantry, but is posed slightly differently?

This is all good news! I'm interested in Epic, not in 6mm gaming in general. I really like the 40K look and the fluff. And apart from the DiD and Onslaught stuff i think most other 6mm companies don't produce very nice models.

Since i really, really got bored fast with X-wing I'm also looking forward to BFG. Again, i like the 40K setting, not generic sci-fi...
