That little FW Mars pattern Warlord shown off a bit back would be a wonderful thing.

I'm also ambivalent. New EA or whatnot would give us a chance at new models and resupply older ones, but Jervis seems to be a 90% kind of guy.

This refers to an engineering rule that says "The first 90% of the project takes 90% of the time, and the last 10% takes the other 90% of the time" (ref https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ninety-ninety_rule)

Jervis got us a lot of good, but imperfect rules (skimmers, fliers), and a lot of good, but imperfect models (don't get me started). I anticipate anything new would also be 90% of what we expect.

If true, I might buy some plastic stuff. I'm skeptical that they would do this, especially releasing Epic 6mm minis. If they rae re-opening old ranges it is a very different thing to setting up a bunch of new ranges.

Neither seem terribly likely, and I think someone misunderstood the memo at GW Australia.

The other thing is this wouldn't be the first time I have seen info come from a GW manager which turns out to be (deliberately?) misinterpreted far away from the actual truth.

Did I miss something or didn't Jervis leave GW about a year ago under a bit of a thundercloud?

There was an article in Wargames Illustrated I think.... although I may be getting muddled with Rick Priestly.

I actually think a new version of the rules could be a good thing, if it is a minor evolution of the current ones I just don't trust GW to do it or balance the armies. If they reached out to us, on the other hand... I am sure together we could put together a fixed version of EA that would be awesome - more modular, for example, like generalising the RA rule to allow for different saves,

So more concrete information leaking. So far the scuttlebutt isn't that SG games themselves are precisely returning. More that a FW will be expanding to encompass a "fanatic/specialist games" like off shoot. They will be doing things like continuing LotR/Hobbit releases, one off games, and at some point some of the old games may likely see a reappearance or similar game from them in the future. So for instance perhaps BFG is available again, perhaps BFG 2.0 comes out, or a new space combat game is released instead. Or maybe not. The new Horus Heresy board game just up for sale is from them evidently and I should point out the new(ish) CEO, Crabtree is from FW originally.

Time will tell, If it is true and it is under Forgeworld there is hope.

An interesting development for sure but I see GW getting involved in epic again as a bad idea. My reasoning behind this is that they will be looking to maximise sales of their own miniatures lines if they do indeed move forward on this. This would mean as far as I can see a greater scrutiny of all those manufactures ranges that we have grown to rely on for proxies for the various epic games. We all know how they like to shutdown any possible competition they can and i'd hate to see these manufactures closed down or at best lose customers for there products after all they've done for us and are still doing for us over the years.

Do we really want grandma wendy sticking her nose into our little corner of gaming nirvana I think not. GW abandoned us all several times before without a backward glance, are we really going to jump back into bed with them now so that they can do it to us again later down the road once they've had enough or are not making the money they had hoped from it.

For me from a business point of view i'm thinking now is it worth me buying the DiD range if everyone wants to go back to buying official GW miniatures instead.

Anyway just my own opinion and stance on this development I hope it dosen't happen personally, i'd rather we were left alone to carry on as we are at the moment.

considering they don't even have a team put together for all this (job postings just went up btw) we're talking quite a long road ahead and little concrete information to worry about. Also to be fair, I really suspect that we're not going to see Epic re-released as we know it. Something more akin to the old Horus Heresy / Battle for Armageddon board games on steroids, perhaps or in a similar vein or perhaps a 10mm game more to counter DZC/Planetfall. Games like AT, BFG (easily re imagined more like an Armada/X-wing style game), BB, and SH-esque stuff seem to be more suited to this type of thing.

Hi!

First, I'll believe it when I see it....

Second, if it happens, it will be 10mm. Because everyone interested will have to buy from scratch. We'll in keeping with thier sales philosophy..... ;)

This is EXACTLY what I said the year before when there were wild rumours of a 30k Boxed game and Epic rumours.

I could imagine them making a HH game in 10mm as all the units would be useable for both Loyalist and Chaos forces as it's a massive power armour punch up.
