Having spent almost 7 years at the distribution level of the game industry in the 1990s I for one would welcome a move to email rather than phone for customer service.
I had enough problems with my clients wanting to phone up and spend hours talking about inconsequentials at that level. I can't even imagine doing it at the retail level. Especially with GW product involved.
I wonder if GW is going to institute "time on phone" limits and "targets" for service such as would exist on an IT help desk...

I agree. Most are moving towards e-mail, not away.
I guess its a not so subtle way of saying...
..if you only buy fanatic games we're not interested in wasting efforts to support you....

Troll: Hi, thank you for calling. How can we help you?
Customer: Hi! I want to put together a left-handed chaos marine with nose ring and armed with a feather duster/auto-spanker combi weapon. Can you help me with some suggestions?
Troll: Oh, combi weapons are a Level II Troll problem. Here's our 1-900 number and a service ticket. Just wait on the line till the Level II troll answers.
Customer: But... I just...

"Time on phone" is an extremely common practice for Customer Service call centers, whether you're talking insurance companies, cable service, telephone, etc. etc. I agree, most companies are moving towards greater email and on line services. I work in the insurance industry and now with some insurance carriers you can enroll for medical insurance on line and correspond solely by email, and never physically speak with a human.
But then again, I stopped trying to figure out GW.

Well, my gaming buddy was reading an interview with Jervis on line some where and besides the interviewer asking 1 hundred & 1 Blood Bowl Questions, Feral Orks should be out (?!) in 6 months so that would put it the winter of '06 ! And after that it may be a year or more for the next Epic release (?!), based on the Q&A. So it is another "wait & see" situation ... again ...

It's just annoying to the max that they released Swordwind with all the rules and Cool Pics, but like a Tart on prom night they are going to tease us while they decide to go all the way or not ! |
Nice one buddy!
