The CGI is obviously awesome for a fan project, but judging by the trailer alone, the guy's story-telling skills need some work.

The operative word is "commercial" I would think. It is precisely the reason the supps aren't made for profit. So if this guy goes and makes a video 30 minutes long and posts it on the web for everyone to view for free, then I think they would just ignore it.
