CyberShadow, what with all the problems trying to get the old forum database to work, have you considered simply starting the forum afresh? The big advantage is that you can upgrade to a much better piece of forum software (I highly recommend phpBB v3). Plus you'd be more free to mess around with the forum setup (e.g. you could add a Painting, Tactics and House Rule forums for each game system). Personally the old forum posts aren't that important to me (I imagine a fair bit is outdated/redundant now anyway), it's just the ability to chat to the SG helpers who are 'in the know' that will draw me to the forum.

Btw, it'd be nice if the FO articles were categorised by game system rather than issue number as it would make it much easier to quickly grab the articles relevant to the game your playing.

We have considered simply restarting the forums. However this would loose all of the previous data previously gathered and would be a shame. I have the data on my machine and it is frustrating as it just needs converting to something that I can use. I keep thinking that I will find a way if I just have another week.

If we did restart a fresh forum, we could just add it to the boards here. Otherwise, I would be very tempted to use the same software as it works well (in my opinion) and I am familiar with it.

The FO articles are set in magazine issue order as this was a request/condition of SG. My aim is, when complete, to have game specific link pages to all of the articles as well.

Hi. GW have been very quiet since before Christmas. I guess that their commitment to the move has concluded. Lex has also backed off, I guess unhappy with the project being half completed.

I still intend to complete the move, but feel that getting the Fanatic Online resources available first (or at least the majority of them).

Yeah. My current plan is to temporarily abandon the idea of moving the old boards across, and simply set up new ones. I will get on this in the next few days, using the same system that we use here. If/When I get the old data set up, I will upload the old boards, locked, for reference.

How does this sound?
