Well then looking at this example maybe it's time we changed the fluff and have rhinos as 5 man squad carriers instead. Then we just need an all new full 10 man squad carrier model.

I'm all for it. It's reasonable. But the issue is really just that 40k vehicles are too small for the superhuman factions. If you look at the artwork for stuff like the rhino Image
it looks totally fine, and then you get the kit and realize that the gunner looks enormous and is not actually able to climb down the hatch once the actual model is assembled, and that there's no room for 10 marines or... Gubbinz, as an ork would put it. Engine and whatnot that might be good to have in a tank. The space marine vehicles all basically look like they're built with normal humans in mind and we're all just pretending that the space marines could use them. So the (sensible) argument that the miniatures are not actually scale models in epic, but are instead more like chess pieces is just as true for 40k. Which is why truescale rhinos and landraiders using landraider and baneblade parts respectively were all the rage for a while among the conversion enthusiasts.

Also, apologies for the total sidetrack.

The Defeat in Detail trojan APC models for example were upscaled to make them look more viable as full squad carriers when placed next to the elites infantry figures. :)

You mean the excellent Trojan APC's and their Novan Elite infantry which are readily available from Vanguard Miniatures, like the ones pictured......

I believe someone may have mentioned it ... But I usually base coat metal with enamel. Then do everything else in acrylic, once the enamel has dried @ 12 hrs. I even base coat the enamel with acrylic in the color I want as the actual base color of the of the model(s). I usually use enamel in shades of gray ...

Considering the rhino was initially used by the Imperial Guard, it's not so far off to think that they might originally have been scaled without power armour in mind.

Where's that off topic derailment picture Jimmy uses? It's been at least three pages since we saw it...

In the original WH40K fluff waaay back in '90, IG, SMs and Squats used the Rhino. And I still have that in my TO&Es/templates.

So has anyone here helped out with he rules, trying to guide GW past the many previous pitfalls, or are we looking at yet another 'punt' into the unknown? :{[]

With the change of scale and the deliberate choice of going with Adeptus Titanicus instead of the Epic name I personally think they're distancing themselves a bit from Epic Armageddon.

Think about it, it's a game that has been curated by fans who also create and share miniatures and it's alive and kicking without GW involvement. Bringing that into the spotlight seems like an unattractive option for GW.

Did any of you guys try the Imperial Knights: Renegade game? It might offer some clues about how they're looking to deal with giant robot on robot violence in Adeptus too.

I think there is a good chance it will have similar basic mechanics yes, but I have no idea if that's a good thing.

I very much doubt they will work with the community again, it adds huge time delay and overhead and I think they will prefer to have a pipeline of games in relatively quick succession.

I am wondering if a proactive letter to GW might be in order, just to confirm they are OK with the NetEA site content (hosting the rules since they no longer do). It seems inevitable they will go looking at it anyway, does it not? At least this way it's not right before release.

Hi!

Agreed. They will try to get this out in a way that is only marginally related with anything that came before it so there will be little "cross pollination" as possible.

Hi!

Given their target strategies for younger customers, this stuff IS old.

Remember it was released in 1989. Its almost 27 years old now. ;)

Been interesting reading through this thread but my own opinion is this, GW announces the return of specialist games and that a new epic game is likely at some time. Then they stick two fingers up at the community of players and collectors that have kept epic alive all these years by announcing a change in scale thus rendering all previous epic models and all 6mm sci fi manufactures ranges obsolete at a stroke.

Why 8mm because then there is no competition from other manufactures, if they had stuck to 6mm and done proper true scale titans i'm sure I would have been seduced back to the dark side and bought in to the new models but now i'm really not interested at all.

All that's going to happen here is a further dilution of this small community of dedicated enthusiasts I feel. Hope i'm wrong but lets wait and see.

I agree with almost everything you said.
The only thing different is that I will probably save up some hard earned dollarooneys and buy it.
But I'll cry like a baby when I do.
Then be overcome with joy!
Then cry some more.
Then walk off and listen to something like "Wrath" by Lamb of God.
