Ahh, like the Squiggoths then. :D

Except, at least here in Canada, the blister packs contained *two* Squiggoths for that price... not sure how that stands now though... *laugh*

Has anyone asked them if they did stuff it up?

Aaron

Yeah I have, pointed out the bizarre pricing of the valkyrie and vulture (are there any more anomolies like this?) but not expecting to get a quick reply.

I did stress that having Epic available again downunder was a really positive step and that I wanted to spend my money in Aus/NZ, but that I would be a fool if I did given the current prices.

Well you can't say that they're not responsive....

Greetings

Sadly we cant help exchange rates at all, as our prices are set independently of them.

We cant stop you from getting the most out of your money, hopefully though the exchange rates will revert soon to what they were before so that all of the Australian based importers continue to make some money.

According to the system you get two Valkyries for $25 or 4 Vultures for $38. Sadly though it looks as if the automatic update has swapped the two prices on the webstore, which should be fixed this morning.

Keep in mind that when you are ordering from Australia you do not pay GST and thus can deduct a further 10% from the Australian prices.

Which should make the difference somewhat more bearable!

Cheers

Jason

Hi Jason

First of all it is absolutely great to see Epic back on sale in this
part of the world - but the prices seem to be way out of kilter with the
other GW online stores and some prices don't make any sense.

Prior to knowing that you were about to re-sell Epic I had priced
potential orders from the UK and US, so it came as a huge shock to see
that the Aus/NZ prices weren't competitive at all.

For example, 4 x Space Marine Battle Company from the UK = ?48.00 +
?8.00 p&p (per Kg) for ?56.00 in total which is $143.70 (confirmed this
at the UK store).

4 x Space Marines from Aus = A$140 + A$8.00 p&p for A$148.00 in total
which is $178.53.

The $35 difference is almost another Battle Company!!

The stuff from GW Aus/NZ is only comparable if you are buying one item
at a time because shipping is much cheaper - but the higher UK and US
shipping costs are more than offset as soon as you have multiple items
in the same order.

I also don't understand the pricing for Vultures, 4 models per pack for
A$25, versus Valkyries, 2 models per pack but $A38!!! Compare this with
the UK at ?12 and ?8 respectively which makes far more sense.

I really hope that something has gone wrong with the original prices and
there will be a revision. I want to buy Epic stuff but I want to pay for
it in this part of the world - but with the current prices I would just
be foolish.

regards, Stuart

NZgunner,

I think you where talking to a moron. We hope the exchange rate reverts to its previous position, where the ozzy dollar bought 55US cents and maybe 40 pence, yeah that would be great, then our buying power would be back in the gutter. What a tool this guy is, and a bloody liar, the put the prices up because they mark everything up 250%, at half price they make more than 100% profit on any item in store.

I also heard a little titbit the other day that said they air frieghted the whole lot in and that it cost them a fortune and now we are expected to foot the bill. Like hell I am going to waste my money on GW Australia.

To be fair I don't think he's a moron, he's just being completely honest, they are waiting for exchange rates to fall so that their prices become competitive he is focused on the cost to GW Aus/NZ rather than the end price for the consumer.

I actually think it was a poor business move to start reselling Epic in the current exchange rate climate - what is the point when we can all get it cheaper elsewhere?

Sorry for OT, but :).

Are you sure about this? I mean I did get 10 blisters of Squiggoths for my win and all of those did one 1 per blister. Would seem lunacy that they have different pack sizes ... then again, this is GW that we are talking about.

Well, this was well over a year ago when GW was still stocking Epic in their "Battle Bunker" retail outlet; at that time it two Squiggoth per blister... not sure if that's still the case.

When the Squiggoths were first released there were two to a blister... now we only get one to a blister... is that due to a typo the first time round, or the second time round?

You decide which price is sane. :D

Then assume that GW has done the opposite.   :D

The Epic 40k Blisters had also 2 Squiggofs per Blister and you still get them from Ebay. :-)

The GW response makes no sense whatsoever.

The exchange rate for Aussie to US or Uk pound has never been better. This is the best time to buy stuff from overseas. Saying they are waiting for the exchange rate to improve is stupid. It won't get any better than it is now. The prices will go up when the Aussie dollar falls not go down!

Also it is better to buy from US or UK as we are not charged GST(VAT).

That GW guy doesn't understand exchange rates at all , or they are just saying that to try and excuse the fact that they are screwing over the Aussie public once again.

I'll be ordering from the UK. Thanks but no thanks.

Neil

I think he does understand exchange rates and is just pointing out that when the $AU and $NZ (we dropped over 2c today :() weaken against the $US the GW Aus/NZ prices will be more competitive - not cheaper for us the consumer.

The thing that grates the most is that GW Aus/NZ have probably got their stock in on the back of a strong $AU, but this is still the best price they are willing to offer. If in a year's time the $AU has softened you can bet they'll be putting up prices to reflect that.

The problem being that if they do that it will still be cheaper to buy them from overseas.  Its cheaper to buy a single blister from the US for me at the moment.  I don't even have to do a bulk order to pull the postage down.

Weirdly when they first came back in they were listed as one to a blister but when I ordered them I got two to a blister so ended up with double the amount I wanted.
