Just wondering how the effort to generate funs from ebay was doing (link here).

Everyone remember about it? I admit I occassionally forget - any way to bookmark it incidentally?

Right click on the link and select 'add to favouries', 'bookmark this link' or whatever your weapon of choice chooses to call it.

Thanks for remembering. I think, in the last 6 (?) months, it has paid for about a month of bandwidth!  :p

It aint gonna make me rich!  :D
Still, I am not turning extra, 'free' money away.

Wish I new about this earlier this year, given how much I've already spent on eBay...

Out of curiosity how does this work?  I assume following that link must place a cookie in your browser session which eBay notes when you buy something during that session.  Any idea if its persistent between sessions.

I ask because I usually just go straight to My eBay, but if that is denying you the fruits of my purchases I can always go though your link THEN to My eBay.

That's right, you guys are worth the extra click to me.  I'm such a philanthropist.

What a guy!  :D

I am not sure how persistant the cookie is, but I would assume that it is not very and that clicking through here each time is the only way.

Essentially, I get a percentage of the final price if you click through, and place a bid that they wins the auction.

Thanks.

Not that I've won anything recently, but I always go to ebay via that address.

I happen to know a thing or two about this as I work for an internet business and we have both incoming and outgoing affiliate links that we have to track.  There are ways to track the origin of the user between visits and it will depend on the nature of the leagalese in the agreement signed by the intermediary and fleabay:

Some affiliate schemes take the source of introduction of the customer and hold that between visits so all revenue generated on repeat visits by that customer is attributable to the introducer.  (Until the cookie disappears for whatever reason)

Some affiliate schemes are visit based so that only revenue generated on that visit is attributable to the introducer.

(Obviously the former is the preferred format for the introducer and the latter for fleabay.)

Without knowing about the specifics of the deal that is being done here I would suggest that people use the TC link each time they visit fleabay as I doubt they have much interest in tracking affiliate codes between sessions.

I do use it as my main fleabay bookmark but haven't really done any shopping there lately...

Odd questions about this-

Does it generate revenue when you check something out or when you watch an auction or when you bid on an auction or just when you win an auction (not sure how it would keep track of that)?

And is my password safe?

Passwords are completely safe (both from here and your eBay one), and it only generates revenue when an auction is won.  :confuse:

So you need to be able to bid on the auction by taking the link, then win it.  I know I am sounding dense but there are just times when I look on ebay and forget to take the link - I am a bad person.

Hi. As far as I am aware, and I should go back and read the terms again, for money to arrive with me, a member must click on the link, and place a bid, which then wins the auction.

However, dont get too worried about this. If people are in the habit of getting to eBay through the links here then that would be great, but I dont expect a lot. If I get really short on money, I certainly wont be relying on schemes like this, but it would be nice to take Mrs CS out for dinner to apologise for many evenings lost in front of the PC!  :D

I haven't won anything recently, but I'm happy to report that I always use the link now.
