I suggest all new members fill out the data link with a little intell about yourselves so we get to know a little about the newer members of our Epic Cult !  :;):

I think this is a great idea. In fact, even any older members who have not taken the time to fill in the basic data, it would be fun if you did.

Knowing a little about you is a good thing.  :D

I wouldn't mind if we went a little farther than just filling out the data link. IIRC, someone a few months game proposed a list of questions for everyone to answer. From what I remember, it was a rather long list, but I liked the idea anyway. Perhaps we could do something similar to provide a little more info about each of us.

No thanks, I live in the UK, I've had quite enough of people trying to collect my data.

Hi Charax,
heh - we've had IDs for years here where I live... at least the wallet feels artificially full with this and other odds and ends in it.  :p

We're probably more interested into whether you fancy Orks or Daemons (or even Kaiju) than your demographics, and anyway, it's by no means obligatory.

Oh by the way, I'm an enginseer from Mars - I mean Malta - and am too old for GW's statistics......  :{  same as a few others over here at Epicomms.

Just curious, if you will tell us here that you live in the UK, how is this then bad to enter in the profile?

I think Charax was being ironic.

Irony is a very British trait and sometime difficult for outsiders to understand.

At the moment in the UK there is a debate about the introduction of ID cards and the holding of information about us by the government on the flawed assumption that by knowing who and where we are at all times this will somehow stop terrorism....

What advantage is there in filling out my profile when people can just ask me if they want to know something? I mean it's not like most people will actually care about the info there. I might fill it out just 'cos I'm bored (and getting no replies on any of my ideas, on any board, AT ALL, which is unusual) but I really can't see there being much point.

Edit: Yes, I was being ironic. Perhaps my irony should be less nation-specific next time - the vast majority of the boards I'm on are predominantly british.

Irony is a British thing, Americans generally don't understand it, in the same way we Brits don't understand the appeal of American football!

:p

There, see, I'd got that far. Good job we were a colony for over 160 years.  :p  :D

Interesting, I wonder if there is some connection in all of this.  :L

Well, what I was getting at was just, general stuff ... like games/armies you play, military experience, where you are from, job, school, stuff  like that ...  Pretty harmless, but voluntary of course ... :;):

Well I read a couple of the "newbies" data and it was just as we said ... only a few words, where they're from, games/armies played, military experience, etc.  Nice ...  :;): Please feel free to read mine, I had a Top Secrect clearance when I was a Grunt ('79-90), so I won't make any "slips" ! :;):

I think that there is no problem in a general thread for people who want to introduce themselves. It would be entirely voluntary, and people could just talk about themselves rather than answer any particular questions.

Hi!

The topic of ID's is something that is heard in the US as well, however many advocacy groups are against it and it has not been politically popular for it to be addressed.
