on the original original plastic space marine box I am about 95% sure that on the side of the box (alongside pictures of a range of space marine chapters) was a Rainbow chapter.

That's right! I remember hearing them mentioned at Critical Hit too. They were the "Rainbow Warriors" (... well it would be obvious to add some sort of joke about Greenpeace, the French and boats sinking but I'm not gonna do that  )

Well to be perfectly honest i cannot seem to come up with any good jokes about it... I suppose it's not really a joking matter, but I'd have loved to put in a little humorous remark there... honestly "Rainbow Warriors is a bit of a silly name for a Marine Chapter I think

Yes, just checked the box in my WAR ROOM - "Rainbow Warriors" are,?along with others, on one side. ?They are shown as blue with red and yellow strips on their Mk.6 helmets. ?Go figure !  ?History note - in WWI the US 42nd Infantry Division was called "the Rainbow Division", because the troops came from everywhere in the USA or as the saying goes "from everywhere under the rainbow". ?The unit patch worn on the shoulder was half a rainbow with strips of red, blue, yellow & white, IIRC. ?They fought in WWII also ... ? It's a fact ... ?
