Hmm these seams to be som problems when I try to log in. It gives me the welcome screen then the server throws a fit and gives me lots of CGI output. Proberly just a server issue I know but I got round it by going back to epic40k.co.uk and clicking on the epicomms link and it appears to be fine, if a bit slow.
just thought I would let you know

Yeah, it was doing something similar yesterday, and was loading pages very slowly- but it was only like this for 10 minutes or so... :L

The forums generally depend on a lot of factors, including the load on the server, number of guests, status of my account ( :o ), etc. The hosts that I am with dedicate a server for a limited number of sites, and are very cool about that, but if we are sharing with some big sites there may issues. I occassionally get periods of slow connection, but it is difficult to tell if this is because of the forums, the server or something between me and the site. In general, if these periods are relatively rare, dont get any worse and are temporary, I dont think that there is much that can be done. The boards can generate a lot of bandwidth, especially if people open a number of windows at once, and it is just one of the potential problems with a forum (see Portent for a demonstration  :D  - victims of their own success).

If it really gets a problem for people, let me know and I will see what I can do to sort it out. Thanks.

The forum just had a little blip....
-the message I got was:

"The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. "

I also got that message. Scard the hell out of me, as I was just posting. I thought "Oh God I've killed the Forum!!!". But then it came back, so all was well.

It also said something about it was unable to access my file(s)?

Cheers

Chris

Thanks, that reminds me... ... I dont think that you can break them - and that is NOT an invitation to try!

These error message happen sometimes, and I have a minor heart attack when I get one, but a refresh normally sorts it out. It is probably because of server load at the exact moment.
