I was wondering if there is a thread showing video battle reports? I've been scouring youtube all day looking for reports but thought it might be helpful if we could post links to videos on a thread here. Apologies if such a thread already exists, and also if I have posted this to the wrong place, I wasn't sure where this should go. |

Hena did a youtube battle report, though i think it was made of still photographs strung together. Might have been for thew new 6mm game system their group was working on rather than EA. |

Hena did a few, and at least some were for EA. But, I have also searched YouTube and decent battle reports using anything smaller than 28mm minis are really rare. As far as I am aware, we dont yet have a dedicated thread for this, but it is something that I would also be interested in. |

Video battle reports tend to miss more than they hit for me, because obviously, you can only focus on highlights, rather than paint a picture of the complete battle, and a lot of those which I have seen for 40K are really not very good, owing to wobbly camera syndrome, and the editing - i.e. a lot of what was going on was glossed over, or edited out. It would be great to see a really well produced video battle report, but for that to happen, I think that a third party would need to film it while the others were playing. It would make for a much more cinematic view of the action, and would also take the pressure off the players, who have enough to think about when playing without having to consider a video camera as well. |

Yes, I came across Hena's battle report when I was searching through yesterday. For anyone who is interested, here are the links I found. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UU-LlCNgu2w http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vg2qFTJ9x60 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbBJqCVRqxc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8cslikKC8aw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ODT2q5dZ28s @Irisado: I agree with much of what you said. It's my aim to try and do a video report that looks the part. I've been thinking a lot of the techniques I'd use. One day... If I were to do a video report, which forces would most people want to see in action? Two forces with most votes will be featured (whenever I get round to it!). You may want to have a look at some of my forces before deciding! Marines Imperial Guard Eldar Squats Chaos Orks (if I get around to painting them before I do the filming, unlikely) |

Thanks for finding the links, I'll take a look from home later. As for the forces, I always like to see the Eldar and Chaos in action. I also quite like seeing Squats in battle, since I could never beat them, and I would like to see someone else either suffer or succeed against them ![]() |

Anyone else? No hurry for this as I don't expect to play for another week or two, but am interested to find out what peoples' preferences are! |

I've really started thinking hard about this and since I think a lot of my audience are likely to be followers on this forum, I have a few questions to throw out to the community, to help me shape the video that you'd like to watch. Please let me know what you all think! First off what do you want to see in a filmed battle report? I have my own ideas about how to go about this, but am interested to see what you all think & how much detail you'd like to see. Overview of the table Tighter shots of action points (close combat & units under heavy fire) Units being moved Dice rolling Players Other (please specify) What do you prefer to hear in a video report? Commentary of what is happening Heavy metal Classical music Sound effects If you'd like to hear some sound effects, what suggestions would you have for gun shot sound effects? Was thinking: Marine infantry: Pulse Rifles from Aliens Marine vehicles: Han Solo's blaster Titan Weapons: AT-AT Walker guns Eldar infantry: ? Eldar vehicles: Droideka weapons Titan Weapons: Death Star Laser IG infantry: WWII gunfire IG vehicles: WWII tank fire Superheavies/Leviathans: ? Squats infantry: ? Squat Praetorians/Land Trains: ? Chaos infantry: ? Chaos vehicles: ? Lord of Battles/Chaos Titans: ? For the Star Wars sounds, this was a good resource: http://www.sa-matra.net/sounds/starwars/ |

Not convinced by the sound effects idea … but would be interested to see if it works. |

i think i rather hear a commentary of the action, sound effects sounds rather cheesy. ![]() |

Haha, fair enough! Not using sound effects will make putting the video together easier anyway! ![]() Please keep the comments coming - good/bad, they are all welcome - what you would like to see and which forces you'd like to see in action! Cheers! |

Sound effects don't work too well on video battle reports in my opinion, so I'd definitely leave those out. As for presentation, I'd opt for something akin to proper turn by turn White Dwarf battle reports, which gave an overview of the whole table. You could add some close ups, as additions, for particularly critical moments. Rolling dice is very tedious to watch, so no need to bother with that. |

NO sound effects. NO mumbling. NO swearing. NO music. NO long dirty hideous fingernails in shot. NO monotone narrative. If possible, hot babes in shot, not essential, just a bonus really. |

@AB That's quite a list of things not to do! You weren't a pool attendant in a previous life, were you? ![]() I'll do my best not to mumble/swear/speak in montone and I'll even trim and clean my nails before filming, but the babes are right out, ok?! |
