Firstly, congratulations on finding the new location for these boards. This has been a difficult time, but I think that we are slowly finding our way through it. A quick recap.... the server hosts complained that the old site was using too many resources, and all of these resources appeared to be as a result of the old Tactical Command forums. Given that the forum software was entirely unsupported, hadnt been updated in over 12 months, and was full of bugs, I decided that I should change the software to something better. I decided on this system - phpBB. However, there is no direct converter for the data from the old boards (IkonForum) to phpBB. I didnt want to leave the old boards up and locked, as the previous issue seemed linked to the 'guest swarm' and a locked board is just as vulnerable to this as guests dont log in anyway. So, I have converted the old system to SMF (as used by the SG boards) and from SMF to phpBB. This was largely successful, aside from the fact that all attachments and links were lost. The key address for these boards is: index.php Please update any old links that you may have, and pass on this new address to anyone who may need to update the links. The old address will still point to the old forum, and I will add a message there. I have also set up two threads. If you would like me reinstate attachments for posts, please see this thread: viewtopic.php?f=42&t=18019 If you have any comments, feedback or requests about the boards in general, please see this thread: viewtopic.php?f=42&t=18020 Important Note Please note that this system is significantly different from the previous software. As such, some short cuts have had to be made in order to get things up and running as fast as possible, and I will go back and make changes and improvements shortly. For example, the groups system is entirely different and as a result, all members are currently the default, basic member. So, if you were an Epic Army Champ before, you still are, but you dont have the various titles and board permissions at this time. This will be one of the first things to put right. Please be patient, and your permissions will be restored, as well as access to the various additional boards for ACs, Mods and NetERC members. One reason for the choice of this board system is that phpBB is well established, well respected and very active. It is my sincere hope that we will not have to mess around changing the forum software again for a long time! Again, I very much appreciate the patience displayed by everyone through this difficult month, and the words of support and encouragement. Thanks guys. Update Note Many people are finding that they are unable to log in. I assume that this is a consequence of transforming the data from the old board system to this new system, and the passwords being corrupted. If you find that you cant log in, dont panic. Simply send me an email - from the email account/address that you have registered here - with your username/login included, and I will reset your password. Once this is done, you should be able to log in. When you do, pleaase change your password in the control panel as soon as possible. Thanks. |
