After several requests, I have decided to reorganise the EpiComms boards. This is advanced warning that it will happen as soon as I have the time - so look before you click! ![]() |

Well, I will talk to Neal first, but essentially collect all of the EA boards into two sections - general and forces - and have a specific section for all of the NetEpic boards. |

Sounds excellent. Some suggestions (mostly old): - one subsection for batreps in RA general - all chaos to one subsection in forces (like: IG, AMTL, SM, Eldar, Orks, Chaos, Tau, Tyranids, Necron, Other) |

Sounds good to me! The one issue with TacComms I've always had - especially when I was new to the site - is the utterly bewildering number of forums. Even these days I often spend ages looking for an old thread as there are half a dozen forums it might be in... Paring down the Epic forums as much as possible sounds good to me. Are the other forums getting conglomerated as well? |

Suggestions for Epicomms: * "Background" can go into "General Discussion" * Have a "Rules" (or "Core Rules") and "Army Lists" division for the sections (with all the army list sections shuffled accordingly) * I'm not sure a separate "Terrain" category is needed for modeling Battlecomms: * based on traffic, historical, fantasy and alternate history can probably be combined Gothicomms looks pretty clean to me, but I don't frequent there. === If you're not limited to a strictly forking hierarchy in your directories, it would be cool to have certain sections cross-listed, e.g. have a single "background" section accessible either by the EA or NetEpic boards. But I figure that's probably not an option and would play merry havoc with the search function. |

(nealhunt @ Jan. 02 2008,18:02) QUOTE Battlecomms: * based on traffic, historical, fantasy and alternate history can probably be combined I'd personally prefer keeping historical and fantasy and scifi (including alternative history separate. If anything, the number of fora topics within these subsections can be reduced - for example: historical - gaming; modelling Fantasy - gaming; modelling sci-fi - gaming; modelling others - trades; general forum Another option would be to group them by scale instead: 2mm or smaller - sci fi; fantasy; historical 6mm - sci fi; fantasy; historical 10-20mm - sci fi; fantasy; historical 28mm - sci fi; fantasy; historical other scales - sci fi; fantasy; historical The latter would be a bit clunky, however. And I wouldn't like historical and the others combined, at any rate. Furthermore, I feel the 'homegrown' EW and DRM should have their own section, in appreciation of their support for the 6mm hobby. The same could apply to Bacchus, I guess. |

Thanks for your comments, guys. I like the idea of a battle report board. To clarify, I hadnt thought about changing the BattleComms or GothiComms areas at this point. EW and DRM will retain their dedicated boards. I acknowledge the comment about the sparseness of posts on the Ancients/Fantasy/Other boards, but I would like to keep these distinct at this point... and I am open to ways to increase traffic and help to persuade more members to join to post in the general wargaming areas. The idea of having cross accessible boards would be great, but I dont think that this is possible with the current setup. I did consider grouping games by scale when the boards were first set up. However, I thought that genre would be better since some games can be played in a variety of scales (ancients, for example - where would discussion on Hordes of the Things rules go?). I would actually like to increase the number of game-specific boards that we have (for example Command Horrizon, DRM, EW, etc) but would need to be sure that the demand was there first. Thanks again for the comments. |
