Just to be clear, I am not against more people joining us here. In fact, I can think of nothing better. Just check the attitudes at the door.

Couldn't have said it any better myself, dafrca. I've noticed that you and I often agree.

Thanks!

It has sprung to my mind that the potential exists to offer boards for playtesting and development here on these forums (in the same way that the playtest boards are currently set up) - since many of the playtest lists are being driven 'underground' to Yahoo Groups. Is this a good idea? ????

My Gut tells me this could go either way. I can see where it could help and grow our little world.

However, I would be a liar if I did not say I feel a lot of trepidation as well.

To Primarch's point, Heavy Moderation at first to set the tone. Not just from the "Champions" either. Real Moderation so the Champions can move forward with their jobs of promotion and evaluation of ideas.

That is my take.  :;):

Hi Guys,

I like this idea and prefer it to a Yahoo E-group.

The new area could be called "Epic-Armageddon Unofficial Playtesters' Forum" and have a sub-category for each army list that had a champion who wanted to playtest here at Epicomms.

I would love to playtest and maintain a E-A Tyranid playtest forum here at Epicomms.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Hi!

I agree with this. I think forums are better than yahoo groups for input.

But remember, moderate is strongly at first and let go of the choke hold as people prove themselves "worthy".

I must echo Primarch?s call for Very Strong Moderation at first. Further, I would NOT have the Champions be the moderators for their sections. Have separate Moderators so that the Champion remains the army champion. The Moderator can become the bad guy if needed.

Hi!

Thats the ticket.

Let people know what the limits are, those in disagreement leave, those in agreement stay.

Usually a slap on the wrist in the beginning usually saves alot of grief.

I'm sure I speak for all of us when I say that the last thing I want this forum to become is just like the SG epic forum. Heavy moderation will probably be needed at first.

Hi!

I dont think things will go that far, but of course caution is the catch word here to heed. :)

I agree. When people enter a new forum they're usually a bit cautious and sort of try to fit into the exisiting rules of conduct. Of course there will allways be exceptions but I think that as long as we make sure to let people know that the relaxed and friendly athmosphere is the trademark of this forum there shouldn't be a problem. The "trick" is not to let newcomers dictate the rules of conduct (That sounds much harsher than I intend but you get the idea).

Like Primarch said we need to moderate from the beginning to tell people what behaviour is acceptable and what is not. If things gradually begin to slide then things can deteriorate pretty badly pretty fast.

However I'm optimistic. I don't think we will have that many problems. Sure there might be more than we have seen so far but if we just make sure we catch those that arrise in time, before they get out of hand. then I hope that we will have a forum with the same athmosphere but with more talented people sharing their ideas and love for the hobby.

Cheers! :)

Hi!

Agreed. I too visualize not many problems.

We seem to attract like minded people, I think we'll actually get a few good men.  :)

Hmmm... Just a thought.... While CS has made and excellent set of forum rules which everyone can accept I was wondering if it would be a good idea to have a set of posting "guidelines"? Just a sort of 5 friendly advices which sort of emphasises the general "feel" of these boards.

I'm no fan of all too many rules and policies (People doesn't allways read or follow them anyway) but maybe just have 5 quick sentences to make the "tone of the boards" easy to follow for newcomers.

Something like:

"Don't take things too serious: We are grownups playing with toy soldiers"

"If you are going to offer someone critique do so nicely - Not everyone have an equal ammount of experience in all fields."

"See possibilities/opportunities instead of limitations: If someone got a crazy idea then play along and see where it goes instead of dismissing it right away"

"Everyone can have a bad day/be bad at english etc. If you take offense to something either just walk away or report it to a MOD. Most likely no offense was intended so don't start flaming over a poor choice of words. Also if people take offense to things you've said, be apologetic: We're here to have fun. "

"We're all excentric! be warned! :p  "

Cheers! :)

Hi!

You mean something like a charter?

I guess that would be fine, if as you said it was kept simple.
