I would use the subscription function if the existence of a Like button reduced the number of no-content posts.

Or, just add the option for a different type of subscription trigger – to be OP posts only. Use OP triggered sub in hobby threads, normal sub in others.

Now im worried there's something wrong with me, i just navigate by 'view new posts' and use common sense in what i look at. 0 subscriptions.

I do the same thing, too.

A like button would be terrible in my opinion. Not only would it discourage posting, but it also turns the forum into a blog/Facebook system, which is not a positive step in my opinion. It's also incredibly subjective, and open to people bragging about how many of their posts have been flagged as 'liked'.

If there is a problem with too many spam posts of the sort +1, me too etc, then stricter moderation is all that's required. Simply delete these as the spam which they are, and then ask users to post more detailed comments. If you don't have anything to say other than such a short expression, then you're better off not posting anything in my opinion.
