This is something that is coming up more and more frequently recently.

The scenario is that a member is unable to access their account here due to changing their email, and so they create a second account instead with their new email address. However, due to the issues with spammer currently, this second account lies unactivated. At this point, they contact me.

This is actually a more difficult situation than it appears. The boards do not allow more than one account to share the same email address. Also, if an account is not activated, it doesnt show up in the member searches here.

So, I then have to dig out this second account, delete it to free up the email address, and then go into the members initial account to change the details and give them access again.

In addition, due to voting in various competitions, second accounts are against board rules (which is the main reason that they are not able to share email addresses).
