Sothe Vulture is armed with two Hellstrike Missiles 120cm AT2+ one-shot. Cleverly the Thunderbolt is armed "only" with Underwing Rockets with 30cm AT4+ but under WH40k rules has Hellstrike Missiles (4 in total) too. Now i looked at the stats of this Hellstrike Missles and discovered that they have the exactly same stats as a Krak-Missile fired from a MissileLauncher with the only exception that the range is unlimited instead of 48". Well in Epic a MissileLauncher has 45cm AP5+/AT6+ Cleary AP5+ because of Frag-Missiles and AT6+ because of Krak-Missiles. But as i stated previoulsy the Hellstrike Missiles have the same stats as Krak-Missiles. So shouldn't Hellstrike Missiles have AT6+ too? Multiple Hellstrikes could be seen as twinlinked, so the Thunderbolt would have 2 x Twin Hellstrike Missiles AT5+ Would make calculating stats for several flyers as, for example, the Marauder Destroyer (8 Hellstrike Misisles)much more reasonable, too. |

Not a bad rationale, to me. However, the Thunderbolt is a whole barrel of oddities. For example, its 2x Twin Autocannons on the nose, are given as 'Stormbolters' in Epic IIRC... and only have a single AP4+ shot. |

Yes. If i could i would revamp ALL aircraft stats. Even the Orks Fightabommer would be split in two planes to Fighta and Fightabommer. |

But essentially it IS the same missile. Krak-Missiles are supposed to be antitank missiles too. But it has only an AT6+ value in epic. The Lascannon has AT5+ but has only +1 Strength compared to the Krak-Missile. |

Well as TWIN Hellstrike Missile with AT5+ and the excellent range of 120cm it is quite a good tankbuster weapon. On the Marauder Destroyer we could go so far as to say 2 x Quad Hellstrike Missile AT4+ because it is armed with 8 missiles. |

(BlackLegion @ Jul. 16 2007,08:44) QUOTE But essentially it IS the same missile. If you have IA:3 available check out the 'Advanced Aircraft Rules'. In that section, it is explained that the Krak missile is toned down for playability reasons, and then says that 'if you prefer, more suitable stats for the Hellstrike would be the same strength, but AP2, and rolling 2D6 for armour penetration', or words to that effect. Pretty much all the weapons get upped in power in the Advanced Air Rules section, in order to be more realistic (Although costing extra points). |

The Vulture can only be armed with 2 Hellstrike Missiles. The Rocket Pods are the same as on the Valkyrie (30cm 1BP). Interestingly insteas of the 2 Hellstrike Misisle sit can be armed with 2 missile racks with 3 Hunter-Killer missiles each which are Krak-Missiles with unlimited range too... Ok quad = AT4+ bit if the Missiles on the Thunderbolt where the same as on the Vulture...why only 30cm range? EDIT: Oopps E&C was faster. Interesting what you say. I will look it up. |

Ok. Under the Advanced Rules The Hellstrike Missile has the same stats as the Hunter-Killer Missile but with rang 48" (=45cm in Epic) which is stillthe same as a Krak-Missile fired from a MisisleLauncher but with Ordnance 1 instead Heavy 1 and 2D6 armour penetration and pick the highest. Now it has the exactly same effect as a Battlecannon but without the OrdnanceTemplate which justifies AT4+ in Epic. So proposal: Hellstrike Missile 45cm AT4+ One-Shot. Hunter-Killer Missile 120cm AT6+ One-Shot |

The Vultrue can have Hunter-Killer Missiles. And Hunter-Killer Missiles are upgrades (like DozerBlades, ExtraArmour, etc) available to nearly all ImperialGuard and SpaceMarine vehicles (each can have up to one). They are one-shot weapons. |
