In quite a random frame of mind I decide to make a nid tank regiment list. ?Below is the first draft of the list, unlike the proper nid list it doesn't have a host of special rules discribing how synapse works. ?Instead it works on the belief that Monterous creatures and gargantic creatures know what they are doing mostly. ?So the army works just like any normal one, with the exception that several herds need a synapse creature to have access to all orders. enjoy Tyranid Bio-tank swarms Unstoppable. When the mass herds of bio tanks are sent towards to defences of the food races little can stop their mad rush except for the total destruction of the herd Bio-tank swarms follow the tyranid T1.20 unstoppable rule. Synapse creatures. When the larger tyranid bio creatures gather in number, they need little guidance from the hive mind to find and kill prey-things. ?Though the manner they go about this is a somewhat animalistic, even for Tryanids. To represent this only independent swarms and swarms led by a synapse creature may retain the initiative. ?In addition, swarms without a synapse creature may only choose certain orders. ?The table below shoes which swarms may choose which orders Herd ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?Orders allowed Fex ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?Double, march, engage Artillery ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?Sustain, engage Heavy bio-tank Advance, double, engage Heirodule ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?Any Trygon ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?Any Gargoyle ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?March, engage Ravener ? ? ? ? ? ? Bio-tank swarms do not use the spawning rule. ?Any newly created brood creature is likely to be tampled to death before it is fully emerged from its spore. Herds. In a bio-tank swarm the herds are of fixed size and do not change from turn to turn. ?I.e. they act like formations from any other race. War engine regeneration Bio-tank swarm WE follow the tyranid T1.60 rule for regeneration GT victory conditions. Heh. That looks fun. This seems to be the Epic version of a Godzilla force. Is there an official background-oriented name for a "Godzilla" nid army? That might provide a more suitable name than simply "biotank." |

Opps, forgot to add 0-1 harridans for the gargoyles ![]() as for the Lictors. It is their job to lead swarms towards prey things. So they can be used (background wise) to lead the swarm in the right dirction, away from a cliff. I understand that the T7.3 costs will be a bit on the high side, but best start high and then drop the prices. |

(CyberShadow @ Feb. 20 2007,15:07) QUOTE Damn it! You realise that I will now need to go back to my seeding swarm force list... ? ![]() Grow beasties, grow! Many swarms to devour the stars! Go forth, consume, and multiply! This looks like an interesting concept and, yes, it needs a cool name! *laugh* |

(nealhunt @ Feb. 20 2007,14:52) QUOTE This seems to be the Epic version of a Godzilla force. ?Is there an official background-oriented name for a "Godzilla" nid army? ?That might provide a more suitable name than simply "biotank." I'm not sure if their is a porper name for the godizlla list. ?I hear it called (and call it) the nidzilla list. ?So that is a possibility. ?Or we could call it "Ragnarok's idea of a balanced list", since I consider 2 tyrant, 3 fexi, 1 tygron and 50 odd gaunts as a well rounded and balanced list. ?(thereagain I did take 5 chosen knights of slaanesh and an exalted champion of slaanesh in a 500pt campaign last week so balance and me don't see eye to eye ? ![]() Any how back to the list Gargoyles I think that Gargoyle gaggles should have to choose between taking a tyrant or a Harridan. ?I'm not sure why, but I don't think they should be allowed both to lead the gaggle. ?What does everyone else think? Fexi For this list I have decided that there will be four different types of fex, since they are the focus of the list. The four classes are going to be based around the four fex that I have. ?Mainly ?Uber god like (aka the siege fex), assault fex (screamer killers and the like), close support fex (such as devil/worm fex and the deathfexus) and finaly ranged fex (sniperfex, barbedfex, vennomfex etc) Their stats are going to be different to those in the main list, but this is because their abilities are more foused compared to the one/two in the main list. the siege fexs stats are in the first post (though he might get a FF boast to 6+). ?The other three are as follows Ranged fex type/ speed/ armour/ CC / FF AV / 15cm / 3+/ 5+ / 6+ weapons / range / firepower / notes venom cannon ?/ 30cm / AP4+/At5+ (& barbed strangler) notes: Fearless support fex type/ speed/ armour/ CC / FF AV / 15cm / 3+/ 5+ / 4+ weapons / range / firepower / notes two twin devourers / 15cm / AP4+/At6+ ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?&+1 FF attack notes: Fearless assault fex type/ speed/ armour/ CC / FF AV / 15cm / 3+/ 3+ / - weapons / range / firepower / notes rending claws/ (base contact)/ assault weapon/ extra attack +1 MW notes: Fearless I have upped the ranged fexes ranged attacks ability against infantry (A S8 ordance blast attack has gotta hurt), but dropped its fire fight ability to represent its focus on longer range. The support fexi weapons look nasty and they are. ?A fully devoured out fex with enhanced senses will but out 8 shots at BS3 with a reroll at S6 with a reroll. ?This is more than enough to shred a stand of marines or a couple of stands of guard. ?I'm in two minds about the AT6+. ?OOn one hand it does have enough shots to do some damage to light and medoum tanks (even with a low strength). ?On the other hand most of its vehicle targets in 40K are LVs in epic, so I don't mind it going. |

Nice work, ragnarok! It looks like AMTL or OGBM of tyranid version, swarm of gigantic monsters! I love it. (And always I don't like "at least 1/4 common brood" rules of normal nids) And Siege fex with TK CC attack is great! Though I wish I had more carnifexes... (I have only 4 ![]() |

I'm having similar problems I only have 12 fexes at the moment so I can't test the list without proxing. |
