Anyone using the IG Valkyre in their games? If so what are you using as a proxy?

I am using some older GZG gunship minis that look like really cool...

My problem is that I only have enough of the old (2nd Ed) IG stormtroopers for half a detatchment. :{

Anyone got some spares for swap/trade?

I e-mailed Forge World a few months ago, and they said eventually they will do a Valkyrie in Epic scale. So I look forward to that ... :D   Tas, when you say Storm Troopers, do you mean the SM1/SM2 IG Assault Troops with jump packs ?  And GZG does have some nice models, including a Super Heavy Dropship, check out the site, :cool:  :D

Taz,

I was wondering if you meant the 2nd Ed. IG Assault Troops as well...  ???

I haven't bought them yet, but the Fenris flyers from the CAV game look like a perfect match! They're really tempting! One $20.00 dollar bill and I can get two blisters (4 models) and get some change back.

Check the Fenris model out. It's very cool. :blues:

Then again, I still haven't finished my E-A Orks and I probably should hold off making an E-A IG army yet!  :-:

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Ooooo those look very nice and the price is right. Great proxy, look like the real model but not a "knock off".

Is it just me, but is this dropship model look a bit like a hybrid? A bit like an old WW2 B-17 crossed with a newer US A-10? Or is it just me?

They are nice models though.

Cheers

Chris,

I don't see the comparison. The Fenri has engines mounted in the wing instead of on the body like the A-10. The nose of the Fenri is mounted out of a boxey substructure unlike the B-17. There is no big gun like the A-10. It has a twin boom tail unlike the single tail B-17.

However, the twin boom's tail aerilons on the Fenri are a little like the A-10s.  :;):

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

P.S.
I would like to mount a little gun under the Fenri's nose (haven't figured out which one yet) and add some ordinance to the wings. The rocket pods off the Epic-40k Thunderbolt would look great on them.

Hmm, yeah, reminds me more of some German WW2 bombers actually....

Maksim- a sponson turret from an old Baneblade, maybe chopped a little smaller, would be perfect I would think... ???

Nice!  You could easily bend the wings down abit, but otheroiwse it is a very good stand in.

>Tas, when you say Storm Troopers, do you mean the SM1/SM2 IG Assault Troops with jump packs ?

Yes :blush:
We alwasy used to call them that in 2nd Ed (we dont play 40k) so I kind forgot that evrybody else knows them as Assault troops.
Wicked minis, I've got mine in an urban cam type paint scheme...just need more :{

Yes, Tas, I have 3 detachments of the SM1/SM2 Assault Troopers and find them very useful at times :D ...  I think with the release of E-A, we'll see the 40K type Storm Troopers produced, also.  I look forward to it.  I don't play 40K either, Epic has been my game of choice since '90.  And good call on camo uniforms, all my units are in tactical colors :D  !!!

I have been of the first founding legion since I first started when 2nd Ed came out.  Never used to think I was 'old school'- haven't I been kidding myself
:laugh:

>I see you and I also have something else in common, I saw >you are in the military, I was in the US Army '79-'90, as a >grunt officer.

I was a Infantry Officer too to begin with, then shifted to Artillery.  After 4 years I decided that all had lumps in it and now proudly serve as a Naval warfare officer.  Before we start the obligatory heckling, I'd just like to point out I get 3 hot square meals a day and a dry bed everynight
:L

>And I look forward to the E-A releases too, I think the IG are >going to get snipers and Steel Legion Mech troops too !

My Steel Legion mech troops look remarkably simialr to early 1980s WARPACT Motor Rifle Troops.  Of cours ethye are in different colours but still...

Great to meet you guys; this is a very friendly and popular forum with soem greta people in it.  Shame I live so far away and cant get any games in with you :{
